guess I'm a pussy!

I'm fortunate enough to live in a relatively small town with just two none chain gyms. The one I go to has just about everything you could ask for in terms of both free weights and machines. Little pricier but it's worthbit
The gym I go to now is also a non-chain gym that's in a pretty large building with the weight area taking up 1/4 the space which has damned good equipment (db's go to 130) There's now brand new equipment in the weight room which is great for the $20 I now pay vs 10 for Planet Fitness (which I still pay for as I sometimes go there when my main gym's closed)

@douchebag (what a crazy nick lol as I am a douchebag to the idiots in the gym), why not go check out gyms that are within an easy drive, that have better equipment and decent staff (and members)?

Nice, mines a two story with 3/4 of the bottom is all free weights and hammer strength and a giant multi-purpose cable machine, then a big room for classes, top is all the cardio stuff and some more machines. We got dumbbells up to 160 which doesn't matter for me cuz I can only press like 110's for flats and inclines hahah. But they're good to have for dumbbell shrugs and farmers walks. $43 a month for me but it's a good investment

@douchebag, based on your prior posts in this thread it seems like you have a high level of commitment to training. If you combine that same commitment to your diet I think you will be fine, for the most part.

For a short time I had to train at a municipal gym. It was almost all nautilus equipment. The limited equipment and exercise choices certainly had an impact on my gains. However, sometimes training is like anything else in life, you do the best you can with what you have.
Continue to be the best dad you can and train when life allows it. Hell, push-ups and
sit-ups at home are like old school prison workouts. Good luck brother!

While we are on this topic, thought Id share this video. In regards to training there, I would personally avoid this gym at all costs. While it does serve a purpose in the fitness community (for people who are just starting their journey and need a place to learn and feel comfortable) I'd say most members here have outgrown this gym. It is extremely difficult to work near your maximum physical capacity silently and I really dont want to train in a facility that mocks my persona or "bodybuilders" in general. I believe the forceful exhalation of air (whatever you want to call it) helps you push through the heaviest lifts and sometimes for your safety its better to ditch the heavy dumbbells then trying to hold onto them and set them down which may lead to injury. Planet Fitness does serve a purpose, but I would look around and see what else you come across in your area.

wow thats fuckin sad . its not like that where i work out and trust me if that alarm went off i would knock the thing off the wall . i did enjoy the guy flipping out at the end . its actually a shame cause a lot of bigger guys use it as a backup gym and can't do shit without harassment its a good thing I'm small !but i heard 2016 is the year to get big!!!!!!

i agree but is lack of free weights gonna limit me a lot ? theres very little free weights but i use them over machines whenever i can smith machine sucks but its all they got i make the best of it but was consider buying a real bench and quat rack if will make a big difference

I bought a squat rack and a good bench for my home gym. My family hasn't seen me since, Best Buy ever!

Once you buy a home setup, you'll never want to set foot in a gym again.

Fuck ever working around other people's pace again. I superset whatever I want, never wait, never have to go digging through a rack to get the plate I want because some fuckboy left the last 5 behind the 45s. . .

And mostly, I don't deal with the general public, fuckboys, resolutioners, or nut drying old dudes. I shower in my shower, and never pack a bag. Fuck yeah.

There are a very few machines I miss. Seated calf raise (not the same with a bar), hacks, and cable towers for xovers and cable crunches. And there's work arounds for all, they're just a matter of convenience.

If you're a dedicated lifter, and a busy working dad, it's worth investing in. Craigslist and play it again can get you a decent setup with a rack, bench, all the weight you want, and all the goodies with it for less than 1,500. Just have to shop for a while, and be willing to drive for a deal. This is actually the best time of year, as the resolutioners who bought gear will be running out of steam or hurting themselves by now.

Agree. I spent 2000 with floor, paint and mirrors. Still like going to a commercial now and then to play around with dumb bells and ab kits, but hands down, when it's squat and deadlift time, it goes down in home gym town

Will get some pics up one day, love thy man cave

My old man is an old school badass, 700lb squat back in the day. He just recently got back into lifting, pins a few hundred mg of test per week to keep up (hes early fifties) and got a home gym for christmas. He's got a bucket of chalk down there, stereo, beer cooler, and every friday his buddies come over and they bullshit lift do old man shit you know. He seems to love it.

yeah i know this shit is old but i wanted to update .finally got some free time to get away from planet fitness and check out other gyms. joined up to crunch. place is new and clean unlike pf thats dark and smells like ass! theres equipment and tons of pussy .no more smith machine, using real bench and quat eack even though i had to drop my weight a lot till i get used to it. people are nicer, even the big fucks.lol overall better state of mind and hopefully make some gains since I'm not limiting myself .
