Tennis elbow

any advice for tennis elbow? I've had this nagging inside elbow pain for over a year. Had a couple cortisone injections but they don't last. Got a platlet injection on Monday. I can do heavy pressing movements no problem but soon as I try to curl a dumbbell I get pain.

I suffered from this for over two years but I'm a carpenter I swing a hammer every day ...I had to wear an elbow tensor for a year bough it from shoppers drug mart .Also had to change my hammer from 22 ounce to a 16 ounce..eventually it got better on its own...and also working out helped .strengthening the muscles around the elbow area...forearm ..bicep and tricep

Should have never went with cortisone shot ..can make it worse in the long runight ..Do urself a favor and wear a tensor as much as you can

I agree about the cortisone shot I should have researched more on my own the dr was all to happy to give it to me. I had bought a tensor but it was to small for my forearm

The tensor I found to work the best covered the whole elbow ..it went from half the forearm past the elbow and up the bicep a bit

Only disadvantage is the harsh smell after taking it off after sweating in it all day ..you have to wash it often

I used to have golfers elbow and I don't golf. It was due to working out (pull type lifting) to heavy before my joints/tendons were strong enough.

So I got a pair of versa grip pro for pull days. Lowered the weight and increased the rep. Take a lot of fish oil. Tried acupuncture twice. Concentrated on strengthen firearms. 2 months later it's nearly gone. I take naproxen every now and then

Golfers elbow sucks donkey d*ck. Mine is finally letting go, the elbow that is. After 10 months. No more pull ups for me. Will try chin ups in a few months

I got a red one and used to spend 10 mins couple times a week. And brought with me to gym and warmed my forearms on pull day.

DonQ we briefly discussed this too, pull ups is what caused mine.
I've had it about 3 times, and finally figured out how to get rid of it.

There are three different conditions that seem to be described here. One is tennis elbow, which is an issue with the forearm muscles connecting to the outside of the elbow.

Another is golfers elbow, which involves the forearm muscle connection to the inside of the elbow.

A third condition is called distal biceps tendinitis, which involves the connection of the distal biceps tendon (lower biceps) to the radius bone of the forearm.

I suffer from the latter condition, for a few months now. If you experience pain only or primarily when contracting the arm as with a biceps curl motion or a pull up motion, you probably have distal biceps tendonitis.

I've found that I can substitute hammer curls for standard curls and Lat pull for pull ups.

When I had tennis elbow I stayed away from isolated arm exercises until it got better. Mine was really bad though, and still bothers me sometimes. I posted a decent thread on it. U should check it out. a wrist support wrap will really help start the healing process and might let u continue working out. I personally had to quit the gym all together for 3 months. cortisone is good but it is a horrible idea to take the injection and continue working out hard, when it wears off you will be worse off than u were. massages and stretching help a lot. Once the healing starts u can do wrist exercises to strengthen the tendons. And also if back exercises bug your arm the versa grips are amazing for elbow problems . Good luck

Thanks for the info I'm hoping the platlet injection will help. Looks like it will be leg day every other day for a month or so. T_verde looked for your post but couldn't seem to find it
