eccentric loading

Someone on another thread mentioned the use of eccentric loading to help during the healing process of a case of "tennis elbow". I have been suffering from a case of tendonopathy in both arms, most notably my right one, on both sides (front/back) of my arm from the crook of my elbow to my wrist. I Googled eccentric loading but it wasn't much help. Is it like, the "down" part of the barbell curl, for instance? can someone explain this to me please? I am trying to get this healed but still want' to at least maintain some volume of my recent gains. Thanks in advance.

Personally I don't know how the eccentric part of the movement would help tennis elbow. What I did to help mine was was split up push and pull days. I now do chest/Bi's and back/tri's for a split and it helps me greatly.

Within the literature, tennis elbow is known as lateral epicondylalgia (google that along with eccentric and you will get plenty of hits).

Eccentric training is well known for helping with a wide variety of tendonitis-type issues. I only have experience using it with clients who were having knee problems and I can't think of many eccentric only movements you could do for the elbow - pushdowns maybe?

Anecdotally, I have found that adding a little bit of compression about 10cm below the elbow joint using voodoo floss bands helps keep athletes training while we deal with the problem. Something to consider.

Voodoo floss has helped tremendously

Hey WendyLifts I just posted a picture with exercises to rehab tennis elbow in the Media section. Sounds like you are already doing some rehab, but thought you might want to take a look

I'm not smart enough to link to it. Sorry.

Omg this makes me so happy, I've been here for a couple years now and still don't know how to fully navigate everything. I enjoy other computer illiterate people :)!!!

OP as for the tennis elbow issue big fan of voodoo floss as well as compression cuffs to mitigate the pain and add some support, using a running roller you can get someone to roll out your forearms (it has to be forcfully if they are dainty and it doesn't hurt its not hard enough to help in this case) that's all I got I think

Im just getting over tennis elbow it got so bad i could barely curl. What i did was reduce my load when doing biceps and perform the tyler twist with a flex bar for about six weeks. The bar itself can be bought on amazon for 20 bucks or so. They come in four seperate resistances. Check them out i did alot of reading on this and it is backed by alot of doctors.
