I just learned that Scott Jensen (better known in the bodybuilding community as Author L Rea) died from kidney failure last month. Author L Rea was the author of Chemical Muscle Enhancement and Building the Perfect Beast and the founder of ALR Industries.

I got the opportunity know Scott and his wife Laina when I sold his books and helped him set up the website for a brand new supplement company he started called ALR Industries. They are some of the nicest people I've had the chance to work with. It was much too early for him. My condolences go out to his family.

Scott M. Jensen's Obituary on Ventura County Star

Scott M. Jensen, 59, of Oak View, passed away early Saturday morning, October 8, 2016.

Scott was born April 23, 1957 in Palo Alto and was a Ventura County resident for the past 14 years.

We mourn the loss of a pioneer and innovator in the nutritional supplement and body building industries, author and founder of ALR Industries. During his tenure at ALR, Scott developed some of the most unique-to-the-market products the fitness industry has ever seen. His scientific mind and dynamic personality helped him build ALR Industries into iconic status before his retirement to battle a disease that ultimately took his life. A charismatic and loyal friend to those closest to him, Scott always took time to greet friends and fans with tremendous ardor and appreciation.

Scott enjoyed weight lifting, body building, corvettes, Harley Davidsons and playing the guitar.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Laina Jensen and son Zachary Jensen of Oak View; daughter Christina Crawford and her husband Willie and their daughter Kamiah of Washington; father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Kathie Rea of Ventura; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donnie and Barbie Rea and their children Cassidy, Micah and Joshua of Ventura.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Scott with a memorial donation to the National Kidney Foundation, 15490 Ventura Blvd #210, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ventura.
