Guns

need opinions gents.

I was looking at a Glock 29 as a new CC weapon. I am going to shoot one on the range this Friday.

does anyone have one and if so what do you like or dislike about it?

I had a g20 which is the full size version.
Unless you reload ammo is expensive and not as easily accessible at Walmart and places.

It's a powerful round if you buy the full loads. A lot of the ammo made for it isn't loaded to the max. I carry nine but if it's stopping power for edc you want a g30 or 36 would be more practical.

With all that said I'd be comfortable carrying that round out in the woods with me.

The full loads carry more stopping power than a .357

10mm for CC purposes? Seems a bit "overkill" for a weapon who's primary purpose is to put rounds on target AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.

I would not use ANY handgun larger (or smaller) than a 9mm for self defense purposes. Let me explain:

After the famous gunfight of Miami in 1986 (very interesting and extremely well documented), it was determined that the ballistics of the weapons they had at the time were not "powerful" enough for penetration. Thus, the 10mm and eventually the .40 S&W calibers were born. The 10mm was then officially required by ALL FBI agents and the switch was made from the 9mm.

Since the 80's, we have been able to gather MUCH statistics regarding gun fights and the weapons used. So Let's look specifically at a comparison between a 9mm and a 10mm hand gun.

A 10mm IS MORE DIFFICULT to land hits on a target due to the recoil of the weapon. A 9mm is MUCH EASIER to land hits on a target due to the lesser recoil of the weapon. Also, a 9mm handgun can hold more ammo than a 10mm.

If you have not been in a gun fight, or have real training, then do not give the laughable response of, "I know how to aim." At the range, yes you do, in a life and death situation, YOU DO NOT, unless you have TRAINING! The average hit to miss ratio according to the FBI for "trained" LEO is about 15% hits AND the average gun fight is WITHIN 6 feet. How do you think your training compares to theirs?

While there is a difference in a bigger bullet equals bigger holes, it is not as STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT as landing consistent hits on your target with a 9mm. Landing more (or the first) hits will keep you alive more than landing a bigger hole in your target. Shot placement is everything as well.

It was due to these statistics, which you should consider, that the FBI switched BACK to the 9mm. In addition to this the military uses 9mm. SHOOTABILITY IS GREATER THAN POWER. This is a fact despite people mistakenly believing a bigger gun is better. Also, look throughout history and you will see rounds have become smaller and faster as they have "evolved."

A gun fight is NOT won by someone who made "big holes." It is won by the person who made no mistakes and landed hits first. A gun fight can be won or lost because of millimeters and milliseconds. I want EVERY advantage PROVEN to help in a gun fight.

I've used the 20, loved it tbh. it fit my mitt well. the 19 is on the shopping list and is a perfect CC. I was curious how the 29 felt, figured I'd give it a try.

I'm focused on Glock right now because they are hard to get in my state, as a civilian, but I have a dude who know a dude kind of thing. I figured it might be advantageous to get them while I can.

10mm in a sub compact is going to kick like a fucking mule. Nothing wrong with the good ole G26 in 9mm 10+1 rounds of +p+ hollow points carries all the stopping power you need.

But yes, in Massachusetts it is illegal to own a magazine over 10 round capacity.
I knew it wasn't a large magazine capacity. sorry about the verbage, I'm new to it. at some point we are going to overthrow the state and kick the pussies out. I'm sure of this...

Eh. They have drones, we have pea shooters lol. It's not like it was during the American revolution.

I'm only looking to take over Boston. I figured 30/40 potato guns and a new glock 29 would do the trick.

FWIW, I'm not serious LE. I'm a law abiding (almost 100% of the time) citizen and am not a threat to my community in any way shape or form... until the potato gun revolution begins....

Unless you take cover
In that case ill take the 10mm or .44
You may be able to run. But you will not hide, lol

In a personal defense situation where a concealed carry gun is going to be used there will more than likely be no time for cover. You want it ready to draw and fire as fast as possible. Chances are your engagement will be within hand to hand range. Fractions of a second matter in these situations. Keep one in the chamber. Practice dry fire drills at home, live fire drills at the range, both done from concealment. You basically want to get the gun out as fast as possible and squeeze off as many rounds into the bad guy as you can. Neutralize the threat.

With this argument the Judge is a legit concealed carry firearm. Never draw it just shoot threw your jacket pocket ;) load with bird shot and direct fire in general area of assailants face. When your would be attacker is distracted by hamburger for a face, proced to club ta death maliciously.:mad::mad::mad:. If you happen to hit a bystander just swear you were bird hunting:rolleyes:....it worked for Cheney
