Deep tissue massage

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were in incorporating deep tissue massage ad part of your training regiment. I have only been going once a month but am going to start going twice a month as I feel it helps my recovery a ton and allows for better lifts the following week. Anyone have any good or bad experiences?

I like to do deep tissue massage on my back and legs, I go medium on my biceps and shoulders and arms.. I'd say if you got the money to go twice a month then go for it, I always feel great after I go. But I only go like 1 time every 2 months. Usually cost about 100$ with tip included ,

That's a good idea on the shoulders, chest, arms. My only problem area is lower back/glutes anyways

Yeah lower back and glutes are a great location for deep tissue.. Just always drink a lot of water after you get a massage to wash out all that Latic acid you release when giving a massage,, but that's something they should already tell you after your massage.. And the I like to do some good stretching afterwards.. I always feel like a new man after I have my little spa day haha, after message I'll hit the sauna get some sweat out then hope in the gym pool and do a few laps then hit the hot tub then a long shower and I feel incredible!

Pool/hot tub after is amazing hahaha. Haven't tried the sauna afterwards though. Gonna have to check that out this morning. Thanks!

Yeah man I would recommend it! The sauna kills me bc I hate the heat, but you feel so good after you get washed up,, I'd much prefer a steam room over a sauna but my gym don't have steam room

This may sound kind of girly, but Epsom salt baths afterwards are phenomenal. They help me relax and are great for pain relief. Seem to make recovery quicker as well.

I also drink a ton of water following the massage to flush all the toxins out quicker. I would suggest working out arms first because your body seems to get pretty drained afterwards, but that could just be myself. Hope this helps!

Yes, they are awesome. I get daily one or two hour Thai massages when I'm in Asia. So affordable there, less than $10 per hour, with a skilled masseuse.
The massages, coupled with the PRP treatments, have definitely helped with getting flexibility back, reduced or eliminated tendon pains, and also eliminated a few pinched nerves I had along the neck-shoulder-arm path on my right side. Too expensive to do this regularly in the US though.

My friends usually use it once a week, but so that there is at least 24 hours before training. And then you come sluggish and not ready to work.
