Tracking numbers

Do you think LE looks at tracking numbers. Who is tracking what packages and maybe even how often someone visits the site to see updates on where their package is?

I was just thinking about this.
I can't imagine it'd be that hard to trace back whoever has looked up that package number.
You'd pretty much be caught red handed if they wanted you.

This is exactly why I don't ask for tracking numbers and do not ever check them. To me, if the source is sending tracking numbers, I stay clear of them.

I've tried using tore browsers but USPS won't let you check from a tore browser. And when I was checking with tore, it was on a package from Amazon.

I like having the tracking number. Not anything to do with being excited about the countdown to receiving a pack, but more about wanting to be home when that pack gets here

If LE has a specific interest in you or is building a case, then it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

If you mean, do they watch over the entire tracking system looking for people who track their packages every 5 minutes, i'd say no.

It's not illegal to track a package and i'm sure many people get tracking happy when they have a package coming, be it legal good's or not.

Let's use this example, if post master finds your products, informs LE they will watch that tracking number and IP address..

Once they do a controlled delivery and you claim you didn't know it was coming or that isn't your package etc, they check your IP address and match the location then what? How do you deny any involvement?

If you don't track the number and say you don't know who would have sent that package but it's not yours, a lawyer will get you out.

But giving LE concrete information is not one that I'll be partaking in.

Does the same apply if you check your tracking from a 3rd party site such as 17.track etc? I was under the assumption it was a wise option as opposed to say USPS etc

If I was going to check it, it would be wiser to use a third party.

But still I don't want anything to be tracked back to my IP. If le contacts them then they will just turn over what ever IP was used to go to their site.

If I was needing to have my pack track I would have my source do it. Put the risk in them, not you.

Good point. I know when order fishing or hunting gear I look at the tracking a couple times a day:D

Thanks for your input. You made some good points and brought up things I hadn't thought about.

I would never touch the USPS or even FedEx/UPS sites from my phone or computer if I was waiting on a pack that has my gear order. I'd go to a library or cafe for that.

It may be possible that such a pack may have been intercepted by customs and after resealing after removing the contents it may be released to USPS or whatever service. Then if someone is tracking it that person is tied to said package.

Yeah I like having it cause I use a pobox and otherwise I'm running back and forth everyday checking it.

Edit: RR is making some strong points though I think about that all the time.

I have had the same thoughts before. I never look at tracking. It either gets to me or it doesn't.
