TSL LABS

I know this is going to sound stupid on a forum where it's all about the gym life but when it comes to deadlifts or any exercise for that matter it's all about form. I'm 37 and I've been in agriculture construction and farming since I was 16. My back has seen better days but as long as I keep the weight moderate and make sure my form is perfect I have yet to hurt myself. Even recently I've been doing 3x5x315 and it's a little tough at the end but next day I'm good. Sore but a good sore.

The mechanisms of a deadlift are just hell on your body
Unless your a strongman and potentially profit from the deal or an olympic weightlifter that is required to do the lift as part of the powerclean and jerk then why do it? If you like it and never ever get hurt doing it then so be it. But the deadlift has ruined more backs than Dirk Diggler ruined pussies.
Actually i really like doing them...although in the begining the proper form felt very uncomfortable.
I start out there with deads really light and work my way up from 220 to 315 with a dead then 10 shrugs. I walk around to where i stand in frt of the bar bend knees down grab bar behind my back and do 10 more at each weight up to 315 right now....still working getting to 10 at 315 behind me.....thats when the bar slipped.
But then i usually do 5 reps of real deads from 315 on up.....last week with a trt dose of test only.....tt1330 i pulled a pr for me at 435 ×3......then i go home. Lol

I grew up on a farm in S minn and nw iowa.....maybe deads are a country kinda thang....

OP's Free test was in the high, wouldn't that suggest it's efficiency? I ask because a few pages back @Roger rabbit was explaining how if your Free is high than the Total would be lower because your body is utilizing it. Something along those lines...I don't articulate as well as some. LOL.

One this that hasn't been reconciled is that everyone that came back with questionable or lower than expected Total levels also had elevated Free levels, no one has said they emphatically did not see gains. I believe they all said they were satisfied with progress in they gym. I don't know...this shit is concerning. :(

I remember this from roger. But I think the connection between the high free t was in the spacing of the pins in correlation with the half life. Causing the body to have its natural level with slight ups and downs. So I guess if you pulled blood right before a pin then free would be high and Total t would be low. After the pin total would be high and free low. This is just a guess

I think imma drop deads on the straight bar and just use the hex like roger said. As for dropping the weight the last time i hurt my back it was just 225right after warm-up this time was 405 on 2nd rep. It'll be awhile before i do that weight again which sucks cuz that's been my max and really wanted to try more considering the 1st rep felt easy.

Yeah, deads at 315 are REALLY light
Women PL can pull that
Not sure if you're trying to call me a pussy but my point was the weight for the most part is irrelevant. It's how you lift that weight. I actually work out with less then that so feel free to comment that as well. The first time I ever hurt my back was picking up my little landscape trailer. I built it and made it rear heavy so it was easy to move around if you had to. Didn't even think about it. Just grabbed and lifted and pop. Had to roll out of bed the next day. In the gym though every lift is prepared. Regardless though. You can hurt yourself under the best conditions.

I messed my back up picking up a paper off the coffee table. You're right, it's about form and technique that gives you the pump. I used to concern myself with weight and numbers now I just want to feel the pump

Nah, i didnt intend for it to be pointed at anybody. Infact i deleted a large portion of the post cuz it seemed bragadocious. And that wasnt my intent either. But deadlifts ARE all about weight. Singles, doubles, triples are what the lift was designed for. Sets of 5 reps would be a very high number. I was just pointing out 315x5 is very light and very conservative for a deadlift and that is a big reason why you never got hurt by the exercise. For the most part my post was stupid and prolly shouldnt of been wrote it but its also true the same as i do palms up bent barbell rows with more than 315. Straight to the ribcage. That was the bragadocious part. And i still dont even consider that all that strong. Ed Cohen used to do bent barbell rows with 495 with perfect form. Ronnie Coleman on his best day could do 405 but he stands virtually straight up to pull it off(which is kids what we call bad form). So i guess my point (if there is any) is that alot of ppl use more than 315 for direct lat work. Bent over just like a deadlift, with no injuries. Further indicating 315 for conventional deads is very light :D

Just take it for what its worth. Good day sir
