Fiber that Works...

Hi,

So go ahead and dog on me if you want, but serious question. When I am on a keto diet, I tend to get backed up. I have tried things like Fiberlyze, but it tends to just make me bloated. Does anyone else have this problem and if so have you found something that works?

Thank you.

Metamucil. Three times recommended dosage every day and boom! No more problemos.

Benefiber and eat a shit load of leafy green ( kale ,spinach , cabbage , broccoli ect.) You can pretty much as many greens as you want without coming outta keto .... if your still backed up after that you should probably go see your doctor because you may have some other issues going on at that point ! Good luck...

+1 on the metamucil. Also there are numerous other benefits to taking psyllium husk(main ingredient) as well that are unrelated.

This isnt sarcastic at all im genuinely curious , what the hell are lentils . I always hear people talk about how good they are to incorporate into your diet . But have no clue what it is or what u cook them with ? Is it basically a bean ?

Brother its a vegan thing. They are about the size of a pea, texture of a bean and they boil just like rice. Very simple. Dash with salt when cooked and serve. Its not normally my thing but goddam those suckers are prolly the most nutritionally packed food in the grocer isle. At about a dollar a bag cheap as hell too!

1/4 cup unprepared yields
80 cals
11 g fiber
10 g protein
0 fat
20g of carbs

I just check the nutrients breakdown on them , thats pretty damn solid . Im gonna have to give em a try myself . Im on cut right now and getting tired of the same old shit lol . Thanks for the info bro !

Cool man. I just found em myself. I just replace them for rice. Eat them in bulk with some salt. They pretty much smash it in the nutritional category. But their incomplete proteins. Gotta remember that!

Hell is was thinking about switching them out for my rice In my chicken and rice meals or cutting down the rice to half serving and mixing then together depending on my particular carb need on a given day .

Nice. I'll try em.

Thiw may be completely anecdotal, but I've been taking a tablespoon of black seed oil morning and night for about a month and don't recall ever shitting so regularly. Take it for what it's worth, but I guess it's worth it if any of the other bazillion reported benefits are true.

Got a question:

How much fiber should we have in our diets as bodybuilders?

Technically, fiber is not an essential nutrient so you don't need any in that you won't die without it, although shitting won't be nearly as fun....

Fiber does help with many things though so it's probably best to get some in. I basically will echo Lyle McDonald's sentiments and say 20-60g a day is fine.

30 grams a day keeps me shitting like it's a beloved past time.
30 grams a day is nothing when your pushing 7k cals a day my man. I get by on 30 grams of fiber when im just a normal person doing a maintenaince 3,000 cals

Double that cal count and then im having problems
