No, not a bad move.
If you're not interested in typical cardio and want to branch out, maybe try some barbell complexes. It'll get your heart rate going. It's not really cardio but maybe it'll be easier to stick with and, if so, it'll be more optimal for you because it'll be sustainable whereas regular cardio sounds like it won't be.
15 stairmaster hiit. It sucks but it's done in 15min and 300 calories burnt. Start slow and easy with the intervals and in a few weeks it will be easier. I normally go on the highest setting for 30 seconds to a minute then lower it by 5 or 10 depending how far into it I am and how I feel.
