Liver Issues

I’ve been self-administering TRT since around 2013, mostly 100mg Test E per week, with blood work every three months. A few blasts in the mix, mostly test/tren with a total under 1G per week. (Few orals since the Astro dbol incident in 2013 : ) I did take Sibutramine from Pharmacom for a while and lost a bunch of weight.

Last month I started a blast 600mg test e and 600mg tren e. I was planning on finally getting a 405 bench, so was taking more than usual (dumb, since I had just recovered from a pec tear). Went a couple of weeks and started feeling like something was wrong, super tired all the time, and dropped back to TRT.

Ended up in the hospital a week later with a high fever and high liver enzymes. The docs (6 of them) focused on a tick bite, even though it was on me less than 30 minutes. Five days on an IV of Doxycycline, 2 other unknown antibiotics, and LOTS of fluids, the fever became manageable, only coming on at night and never over 100 deg, so they let me go home. I’m still on oral Doxy.

Ever since, ALT/AST have been slowly climbing, both near 200 now, though not quite as bad as when I was admitted. The fever is also slowly getting worse – higher and more often. At least I have no trouble sleeping!

So the question is, could this have anything at all to do with AAS use? I told my family doc about it as well as a couple of the docs in the hospital. None of them thought it was important. I’m just looking for clues. My family doc is in test and wait mode, basically hoping my liver will recover on its own. I’m on a steady diet of water and not much else, eating around 1000 cals a day and losing weight like crazy. Last test showed liver function marginally worse.

I'm open to and appreciate any ideas. Not used to being unhealthy, and it's got me a little spooked.

If you had a fever, it's most likely an infection. Do what you need to do to get healthy. Once you're healthy work on blasting that 405 up! Good luck!

Seems unlikely to be AAS as others have stated.

Man, that sounds terrible. Hope this gets straightened out for your shortly.

So @flenser --its suspected Lymes disease ? o_O
Hopefully the antibiotics run their course and you should get better .
Stay Strong/Goodluck ~Ogh

Could very well be related to a tick bite. Ticks have never been as overpopulated as they are right now. I used to paintball and spent entire days on my stomach in the middle of the woods when i was younger and never saw a tick. Now, i cant even venture into the woods without scraping them off myself afterwards. It is truly an epidemic. Good luck

Thanks for the encouragement guys. It's weird how fast this became serious. Hopefully it goes away just as fast.

They tested me for a ton of common tick diseases including Lyme's, all negative. Some of the tests included ticks that aren't even found in my area. Between the 6 docs that looked at me, they managed to order some of the tests two and three times. Going by my online test results it looks like I had 16 blood tests that had already been done earlier the same day. I guess that was in case a tick bit me while I was in the hospital : )

They are pretty active lately on the trails I usually ride. Still, I only had one bite me, and I got it within 30 minutes of the bite. That rules out all but some pretty rare tick viruses. Most need to be attached for 24 hours to have any chance at all of making you sick.

Not to scare you, but it could be indirectly rejated to your AAS. Did you use UGL gear? It's possible some of your gear had some bad bacetetia in it and you injected it. Did they test you for meningitis? Do you have any spinal or stiff neck symptoms. I've heard of this happening more than once. I self prescribe myself and it's very important you trust your source to be very clean in their preparations. Many UGL's mix shit in dirty bathtubs, you name it.

I don't really have any symptoms of bacterial meningitis other than the high liver enzymes. Anyway, enough people use the exact same gear as me that I wouldn't be the only one complaining. At least I hope they would complain.

Of course, viral meningitis can come from several mosquito viruses that have been found in my area, and I did have some of those symptoms. The one I don't have, rash, seems to be the one the docs use as an indicator. No rash = no West Nile Virus, apparently.

"About 1 in 5 people who are infected will develop a fever with other symptoms such as headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. Most people with this type of West Nile virus disease recover completely, but fatigue and weakness can last for weeks or months."

I'm going to get my doc to add the test when I go in for yet more blood work tomorrow. If that's what I have I'm in the fatigue and weakness phase. I can't really lift, but the 12 hour naps have been great!

Meningitis is some scary shit. I used to work for a defense contractor. A 24yr old guy in the shipping dept went home with a bad headache one day and didn't come back. He died in his sleep from meningitis. A bunch of people who worked with him had to be tested for it. It was sad, he was a good kid.

I figure I will keep this thread going as a log, in case someone else runs into similar issues someday. Seems to be taking me a while to get over, so this log may end up pretty long. Not sure what this has to do with TRT other than being on it while going through this.

So the West Nile Virus test appears to be missing from my results. The only thing added to the normal Hepatic function panel was Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (236 IU/L with a standard range of 0-65 IU/L). That has all sorts of ramifications, none of them good, but it at least doesn't rule out WNV or similar illness.

Maybe the WNV test is still out, or maybe my doc screwed up the order. He did say he had never ordered it before.

And no, I'm not drinking, haven't been drinking, don't drink all that much when I'm healthy. I keep getting lectured by docs and nurses to stop drinking. No one believes me when I say I'm not drinking. I'm not drinking! : )

Liver enzymes are still high (124/216 AST/ALT)), though I seem to be over the serious fatigue stage. I can handle a light workout or a long walk without needing a 6 hour "nap" as soon as I'm done. The doc is evasive when I ask whether working out is a good idea. I did get a low fever after doing just 3 working sets of dead lifts yesterday, so I guess I will stick to less strenuous workouts.

I plan to continue TRT 100-150mg test e per week. I told my doc about it; politely refused topical TRT. Told him if he was worried about UGL products, he could write me a prescription. He says he doesn't approve of self-injections. I said that would happen whether he wrote the prescription or not.

No sex in over 5 weeks; no desire; no ability. Nothing. Test levels don't help, I guess, when the liver is unhappy.

West Nile Virus test was negative. I'm being referred to a GI doc. I hope he knows where the liver is..

I had my AST & ALT shoot up to 120/225 respectively once and there never was a reason why , the next test was back to 27/32 where it usually is . I was not drinking or on gear or anything stressful , it was just high . Sometimes theres no reasons....
Stay Strong/Goodluck .

Thanks OG. I'm starting to think this is going to be one of those unexplained ones. It's been almost a week since the last blood draw and I'm starting to feel half decent again. Odds are by the time I get in to see the GI doc, the numbers will be back to normal.

While I hate problems that disappear without a discovered cause, I am glad you are starting to feel better.
