I've heard people complaining about loss of libido after long use of Clomid.Hey meso,
Age : 23
Has anyone been on clomid for the long term? I have been on trt for a little over a year. Doc has me on clomid 50mg every day. Was wondering if anyone had experience with taking clomid for a long period of time (>2 years).

I hate how it messes with my head. I get all emotional on it. I cried like a bitch watching Titanic on Clomid

I'm probably confused but I'll answer what I think you're asking. Clomid 50mg every day at bedtime. What is your total protocol?
Yeah that is what he said also. Before trt my test was on average 330. After about 2.5 weeks on clomid it jumped to about 1012. It is now a touch over 1200. I guess I am just nervous about long term that's all. But I have also been wanting to jump to the dark side of supplements. Maybe I have some weird thinking, but if I already have naturally low test, and I am already on TRT, then running a cycle shouldn't (using this term loosely) cause much more harm. Since injecting testosterone is already suppressive. We don't have any long term data on clomid use for men. It's one of the reasons why many practitioners are hesitant to prescribe it for long.
Not that I'm criticizing your doc, I understand why he chose it over test at your age, but you should be made aware that we simply do not know if its safe to use long term.
Does your doc plan on having you on clomid permanently? Or is it just to see if you can restart your natural production (ie you'll come off at some point)? Because if it's the former, then obviously Test + HCG makes a lot more sense.Yeah that is what he said also. Before trt my test was on average 330. I wouldn't think about cycling at all until that TRT picture is cleared up. You'll have plenty of time for that later man![]()
Secondary hypogonadism, yes. Did you guys at least try to figure out the cause? Pituitary MRI, diet/training history, investigating other hormones to see if it's just a test-only thing, etc? Not that identifying a cause is guaranteed but still, some investigation is warranted when the alternative is life long treatment IMO.He has given me the option to stay on it permanently, or taper off and see how my levels are. Essentially what he told me was that my brain was not sending the signal to my testes to produce. Do I want to be on TRT for the rest of my life, not really. If it is something I have to do, then yeah i'll do it.
I've thought about hcg, but he charges so much for it. I think he said 160 - 180$ for a 6 week supply, I believe.

Hmm..the problem is, without HCG, you have the side effect of reduced spermatogenesis with test - you don't with Clomid. That's one of the reasons why Clomid is the preferred option for younger folks. So if fertility is a concern then yes, staying on clomid is the right thing to do.
I still think, due to the lack of long term safety data, that you'll need to come off at some point to see if it helped jump start anything. I don't recommend it as a life long option.
Not being dramatic at all, I was just asking for advice. You aren't on TRT, you are on clomid mono-therapy.
You are taking a pill. Let's not be too dramatic here.

Clomid works long term, don't expect benefits from it alongside the rise of testosterone for about three months( weird but shown by one good study)Hey meso,

I had a similar experience when using clomid for pct. Got very emotional and also some temporary changes in my vision.
Update,
Looks like clomid was causing me vision loss. Never really noticed before until I tested my eye sight on the chart at my work and yeah significant decrease since last year when I got my vision script and also started clomid. So i stopped the clomid as of earlier this week, doctor is switching me to hcg, if that doesn't work then he'll prescribe test cyp.
