Watchout for supplement companies!

Ever try John meadows bar? Pretty good macro profile and taste.

Yeah, but only 15gr of protein per bar, and over $3 each.

There are some real meat based ones out there, they taste like soft beef jerky, but their total protein level is also low - well under 15gr per bar. And pricey.

Irvines bars taste good but are full of sugar alcohols/sugars and little fiber. Look to FitJoy bars or Oh Yeah One! bars for some solid nutritious profiles.

30grams of protein per bar is nice.

However, like most others, they're loaded up with a lot of dubious ingredients. I don't like sugar alcohols (e.g. VEGETABLE GLYCERIN and others), they give me gas and mess with my stomach. And why add SUGAR? CORN SYRUP - why? PROPYLENE GLYCOL MONO-ESTERS - that's a kind of anti-freeze, used as an emulsifier in this case. ACETYLATED MONOGLYCERIDES - that's more emulsifier and preservative. MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES - trans fats. SILICON DIOXIDE - that's quartz, used as an anti-caking agent. Some others in there too that I think could be done away with. Especially sincde this will be something you eat daily - to fill the gaps btw proper meals.

Ingredients in Chief Robert's bars:
PROTEIN BLEND (WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE, WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE), SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, PEANUTS, VEGETABLE GLYCERIN, VEGETABLE OILS (PALM AND PALM KERNEL), SUGAR, SORBITOL, GELATIN, PALM OIL, BROWN RICE FLOUR, MALTITOL, AND WATER. CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF THE FOLLOWING: CORN SYRUP, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), SALT, SUNFLOWER OIL, MONOGLYCERIDES, DEXTROSE, MALTODEXTRIN, CARAMEL COLOR, VANILLA, SODIUM CASEINATE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL MONO-ESTERS, SOY LECITHIN, NATURAL FLAVORS, TAPIOCA STARCH, SUCRALOSE, ACETYLATED MONOGLYCERIDES, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, NATURAL TOCOPHEROLS, BETA-CAROTENE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, CITRIC ACID, WHEY, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SILICON DIOXIDE, ALMONDS, AND BAKING SODA.

I also use chefs cut chicken jerky. 25g protein per bag.

Perky jerky - turkey jerkey is 20g per bag.

This is THE best that I've found. It's made by a bunch of Vegan nutjobs, so you can be assured that it doesn't have any funky ingredients.

It is too much sugar - other than that, it is AWESOME. 330 calories for 22gr of protein is more than I like. But it tastes delicious!

Check the contents:
Certified Organic Ingredients: Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic Almond Butter, Organic Protein Blend (Organic Pea Protein, Organic Pumpkin Protein), Raisins, Organic Bio Sprouts™ Flax, Organic Sesame Seeds, Organic Dates.

There's NOTHING nasty in there!

Makes you poop like a baby.

Edit: I just went ahead and order 8 boxes of 12 each of these.
Vitamin Shoppe
They have a sale going now - buy for over $200, enter SUNSHINE, and get $50 off, and free shipping. These bars cost me $1.86 each, all inclusive, pretty damn good.

I'm sure this is old news for most of you...but for some of you who don't really look into the protein you take etc...you really should start. I suggest weighing it all out instead of using their "scoop" they add in there. I just recently weighed my protein powder- serving size was 34g per scoop...I padded down the protein into the scooper- something most people don't do...and it still came out to be 26g....thats 8g you're missing out on! These companies are finding many ways to be sneaky and put in fillers/mislabel serving sizes. Be on the look out for all of this! You may think you're getting 23g of protein in that one scoop, but in actuality its somewhere more near 15g....It may not seem like a big deal to some of you, but if you're tracking your macros this could potentially put you far below what you think your protein intake is..[/QUOTE}

Those look like great products, but damn they're pricey - almost $6 per bag of 25gr protein!

Compared to protein powder around $10/lb that's $$$$$

The Organic bar I wrote about above is under $2 for 22gr of protein - and that's a super quality bar. The jerky is only 200 calories for 25gr - that's hard to beat.

You'd think dried meat would be cheaper than a bar.

Buy a dehydrator or smoker and befriend some hunters;) duck and deer jerky is the shit and it's as healthy as you want to make it. Most of the premade seasoning mixes are high in sodium.

Price, taste, and macro wise I think these are one of my go to protein bars when I pick one up. Run about $25.00 for a box of 12. Got. A bunch of other good flavors as well. S’mores, mint chocolate chip, white choc raspberry, double choc chunk... got about 20 different flavors all together.

I used to like Quest bars - but then they reformulated them a few years back and the new version gives me nasty gas.

I think it's the soluble corn fiber that's the culprit - possibly erythritol does the same. In either case, I can't use them without severe gas issues.

Ingredients:
Protein Blend (Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate), Soluble Corn Fiber (Prebiotic Fiber), Almonds, Water, Unsweetened Chocolate, Natural Flavors, Erythritol, Cocoa Butter, Palm Oil, Sea Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Sucralose, Steviol Glycosides (Stevia).

If you look around and wait around you can find some good BOGO's on them. I like them for the most part but with they hadn't gone with the corn fiber as it's a very inferior and cheap fiber IMO that doesn't always digest well or promote good fullness.

No sort of fiber digests well, that’s kinda the point of fiber.

Oh, Quest bars promote plenty of good fullness - as in my stomach bloating up and then a steady stream of gas for an hour or more.
