Feeling a lack of drive in the gym

Hey guys a few of you know me well but I'm sure a lot don't .I've been at this for about 11years and have gained 100lbs and my whole life is about this

Lately I've just been feeling a total loss of drive in the gym. All day i may think about training, my goals, progress etc but I get in the gym and grab the bar and just don't have that intensity to push.

I was near the end of my cycle, nothing out of the ordinary for compounds and doses. Figured maybe it was just due to everything hurting so I dropped down to a cruise, took a week off from training and started focusing on daily yoga, stretching and foam rolling. Got a deep tissue massage, and have more scheduled.

Got in the gym tonight and just wasn't feeling it as soon as I grabbed the bar. Never been like this. I guess it's feeling unmotivated and discouraged? As far as this past cycle and current cruise, doses and ai is all what I've always used and previous blood work checked out.

Even let myself have a couple cheat meals this past week. My thought is its a combo of my work schedule pushing my workouts back to 9pm and I'm up at 7am, a long with just aches and pains. Also discouraged by a hamstring/glute injury that's preventing me from training legs, doing deadlifts or any freeweight row movements.

I figured if I cruise for 8 weeks, stay consistent with yoga and soft tissue work, pull back training intensity a bit at least until I feel driven again that might be a good idea.

I'm sure others experience this. Any insight?

That sucks, I'm sure you will feel motivated again soon. I'd try getting up early and training before work. I just started doing that becuase of my work schedule, I like it a lot more. Way less people in there at that hour as well, and I feel pumped to go to work after.

That was my thought. I work a 9hr day, home for an hour, have another hour of work and then I lift. Christmas I lifted mid day and felt great. Which typing that after what you just said.. You're probably right

Yea I'm commuting pretty far so I'm up at 3. Get to the gym around 5ish train and go to the jobsite by 630. If I waited to get home it would be like rush hour at the gym and I wasn't feeling motivated at all. I like it this way a lot more

You've not got a few years on me but I've experienced this, after so long of the intensity of this thing it's almost inevitable to burn out every once in a while. Keep a strong mind and next week you'll most likely be back to normal

Hey brother, sometimes the mind and body just don’t want to cooperate..giving your body and mind a few weeks maybe even a month off and away from the gym may do you wonders! I know that’s a difficult concept to commit to, but if done it and man o have come back with vengeance in the gym. And you know, muscle memory is a real thing.
Hope all is well with you and yours.

Thank you, hope all is well with you also

I had thought about taking a few weeks off. I was thinking if I did that, combined with yoga (DDPYOGA "Yoga for guys that wouldn't be caught dead doing yoga", pulled calories back a bit and kept in low dose gh I would likely lean out a bit at the same time.

And thank you to everyone who's replied so far. It's nice to know people have your back, even if it's strangers on the internet

I’ve taken a month off before and came back with a fresh motivation.
Just make sure you go back lol

I’m just now getting back in after being off for a whiiile. My work got too crazy this past year in the warmer months, but now I have no excuse so I’m back at it.

I have Ben through the same thing its almost like the idea of lifting the weights feels heavier its always connected to my personal life when it happens im either doing to many things at once or dealing with some b.s. recently it happens bro just take some time off relax an come back when your ready I think most of us do this because we enjoy it u don't wana make it into a bad thing mentally from overdoing it if that makes any sense

People like us will never not work out, even when taking some “time off” from the weights, you should still be doing your push-ups, sit up, squats, lunges, pull up.
I think your body and especially your joints will thank you.

This happens to all meatheads my dude.

My advice is this:
1. Stay going to the gym but make it lighter and enjoyable. Lifts you love. Skip legs if you hate legs. Just keep it easy for a week or two.
2. Find another subject to sink your mind in to. For me, a week of gaming usually snaps me out of whatever funk I was in. Whether it’s the break or realizing the time I wasted I get my shit straight.

That's funny I know what you mean when i say I'm taking a rest day I will still do pushups sit ups an curls etc. my wife said I thought you weren't working out today I tell her I'm not working out I'm just waking my muscles up for the day she just shakes her head an walks away
