Do you count low biological value protein towards your total protein intake

bread, rice, oats. I usually hit the protein macros with HBL protein and then fill the carbs and then the fats.

What do you guys do?

Unless I am specifically consuming a vegetable protein powder. I don’t count the protein in fruits or vegetables towards my total daily protein count. Those are just incidental to me.

Why do you assume they’re low biological value? Did I miss a study where non-primary source protein isn’t biologically available? I don’t actively count them, but you’re eating them and they stack up.

From my knowledge certain non primary protein sources can be mixed with others containing a different amino acid profile (rice and beans for example) and become high biological value, but if that’s not the case the protein isn’t as bioavailable as with primary sources.

But I could be wrong, science is always advancing, that’s why I’m asking.

Just came across this on IG. Weird. Alan is a mega-source for protein information.

Is this a joke. You don’t count vegetable proteins as protein. This place is amazing?? Do you guys even know what make a protein complete and incomplete??! unbelievable!!!

What I know and I think Layne Norton explained it is that even incomplete protein will yield all the benefits if eaten within 24 hours of complete protein as amino acids are in the blood for about as long and if you are OCD about it just eat mixed protein (eg oats and milk). Also if you are eating big amounts of oats and rice basically like anyone bulking it will amount to double maybe even triple digits gram protein which will in turn be high amount of calories which you are excluding from your daily intake also therefor giving you the wrong impression of where you are at

Legumes + grains = complete protein

+ Nuts also works. It's not rocket science.

Just curious, do you regularly consume vegetable protein shakes?

This is why apps are great. Automatically tally all macros from all sources. It all adds up. Less important for bulking. Super important on dieting down.

You care about nutrition that’s why your educated on the subject. There are a lot of cats that are just close minded. It’s funny because a lot of peeps think I’m close minded not knowing my whole story and that I ate everything for 37 years, I just turned 46.

Right now whey isolate shakes everyday.
Mixed with oats, protein milk, yogurt, peanut butter, fruit. 1000cals. 100g protein, split into two blender btls.
I have a greens smoothie with hemp protein powder and fruit eod. It’s kinda a cleanse of sorts.
