It seems to come up a ton in threads so I figured I would post something up for the community.
Firstly, it seems that a lot of people purchase their crypto off of coinbase or some other brand name website, which is fine. However, what is not fine is receiving the wallet ID for the purchase and sending it directly from the wallet your purchased crypto was first sent from said brand name site. You guys need to be smart and send your crypto to a couple different wallets before sending it off to the destination.
Secondly, please use a VPN. The amount of people that still have not implemented VPNs is insane to me. If you are not willing to spend 10bucks a month or whatever some of these are charging, but are willing to spend several hundreds of dollars on gear (perhaps thousands), then you deserve whatever repercussions come your way.
There is a simple 4 step process to purchasing AAS with cyrpto effectively.
1. Use the VPN(ALWAYS). If you do not you are stupid.
2. Buy the crypto from whatever site you are buying it from (I would suggest avoiding name brand sites and finding individual sellers if possible). For the love of all that is holy do not use your name, real addresses or emails in any transactions of any kind. Create anonymous gmails or other accounts (tutanota/protonmail) while using your VPN and just use John Doe or Donald Pump for everything.
3. Once you receive the crypto, move it around. Create a couple different wallets, even from different sites if you want. I personally like to use offline wallets (these are wallets that you download and update to current servers and don't need to be on a website to use). With these wallets you can simply create several new wallet IDs and send your own currency to 2-3 different wallets that you yourself own. This allows the wallet you used to purchase the crypto, to avoid being linked with the crypto being sent to your source.
4. You are now safe to send your crypto off to the source of your choosing. These steps not only protect you but they also protect your source and your peers here at MESO.
Welcome to the dark side folks, please stay safe
