Office Politics

How do you negotiate office politics, those of you who are in jobs where this is a major factor?

Power dynamics are a big part of a lot of office work and other professions, how do you negotiate it when you stick out physically as a bodybuilder among normal folks? I’m interested to hear some successful strategies.

Just fuck your boss

What I personally find in work place politics is that there are normally two groups of people,,, stupid and smart. My advice to you,, take the side of smart people. The more smart people that outnumber stupid people the better. And if your work place is all stupid people,, or your boss is stupid,,, then may god help you. But at the same time,, in reality,, politics is just part of life. Sometimes is just better to accept it then run away from it.

Don’t stick out for any reason other than your ability.

The only reason you want to stick out in an office setting is by work ethic and results. I more or less shrug off any comments regarding my diet, how my shirts fit, etc.

If results don’t impact your office standing find a new job. I went from a prime where politics were above all else to a smaller govt contractor and it changed everything.

Treat people nicely.
Do your job.
Help out when you can.
Don't eat coworkers lunches.

If you are a normal coworker you will ultimately be treated that way. If someone wants to make your size an issue wait until human resources heads out to lunch and then feed the asshole with the issue into trash compactor out back. No longer an issue

i think i would wait for the human resources person to go to lunch, then calmly walk over to the desk of the person that likes to talk shit, whip my dick out and slam it on his desk.

As he looks at you shocked, stare deep into his eyes and say "balls in your court now, cowboy".

He'll either never speak your name again, you'll get fired or get a date out of it. Let us know which one you get.

Just make sure he doesn't have a USB camera rolling lol

I just stay out of it as I had my share of dealing with office power plays. Right now I have a job where politics is not an issue thankfully.

I bet you avoid those face to face confrontations like the plague. You like to hide behind that screen and mouth off though dont you my bitch? Punk ass.
I had my share of them and they best are avoided. Thankfully I have great people that I work with right now.

People with your attitude would not last long at the place i work at...fact.

I dont see how size is an issue? I started at my place at 10 bucks an hour. 9 years later I have a healthy six figure spot. I'm 6'2" 280 and covered with tattoos. It's about what you do, how you work with others, how you handle adversity, being dependable, never thinking in terms like "that's not my job" or "what's in it for me". Never send an email you wouldn't want the whole company to read, don't ever threaten to quit, basic ass shit most people fuck up. Come with solutions instead of complaining about problems.

Size is an issue because I work in hospitality which is a removed cousin of creature of the night type work and physical stature and presence can be threatening to non-titled “influencers.” My tact so far has been as you’ve outlined.

I work in an office myself. Honestly size matters psychologically more than most might think. Many times it diffuses situations without even having to talk.

People tend to look to someone projecting strength for direction. It's good to be big when you have a position that requires leadership. It's bad when your in a position where your bosses feel threatened by you. This is where it gets tricky.
