The guys in street clothes always make me laugh. And that’s a violation of the rules!I've never belonged to a gym where I don't see someone lifting with gardening gloves from time to time. Always cracks me up.

Wow you must be hardcore.
If you told me to stop enjoying a laugh with my training partner after a hard set I’d tell you to fuck off.
Move the people out of the way if they’re delaying your workout, but otherwise ignore everybody else.
On topic:
Worst ones I’d seen seen are
-no deadlifting
-no dropping weights
-no loud noises
-have to carry your gym shoes in can’t wear them in
Manager legit said that to me. I was confused as fuck. Your GYM FLOOR holding tons upon tons of iron plates and equipment can’t handle me dropping 600lbs a few times?
There's a guy at my gym that chalks his hands up and then puts on his lifting gloves.

Off topic slightly- I had joined a gym in summer of 17. A few months in, they transformed their setup to accommodate more cardio machines etc, limiting the weights and condensing them in a smaller area. Thus, much more congestion know matter what time of day. I leave that gym and move on. They still expect me to this day to pay $309 in unpaid dues. They can kiss my fucking ass with that nonsense. These bullshit contracts aka give us all your bank info shit is gonna be the death of many gyms in my area. Private garage gyms are huge in my area right now.
LMAO, good one!Whenever I see that I go up to them and let them know which pieces of equipment need maintenance.
If they bought it through legal channels, how exactly were you able to walk out and take all your stuff and prove it was yours and didn’t belong to the gym with the sale? The gym I was at for years tried to hit me with six years worth of dues.
My buddy was managing the joint at the time, and I was basically working there off the books. Tours, paperwork, phones, cleaning, whatever.
I spent most of my day there, so was down to help out with shit. I'd brought in a ton of gear and most of the non-standard implements were either mine or his.
We worked our asses of to make what was basically a box gym, not a box gym. We had every age on the spectrum in, men and women alike, all fitness levels.
We did free seniors classes and cuircut training twice a week. Hosted two meets and a strongman competition in four years.
We made that place fun, ya'know?
So old boy just killed my monthly payments. The owner was also aware of this, knew all the shit I was doing and the time I was putting in.
Two years ago, the gym sold. Previous owner wanted to leave the state after splitting with the wife.
New owners came in, flipped shit about the music, the tires, the yoke, all the shit we'd brought in basically. Flipped out about the classes we were doing - to draw in business mind you.
Nobody was really happy, then they called me up on a Friday demanding a few grand in dues.
Fuck that shit.
Long story short, my buddy and I both walked that day. All of our goons walked out behind us, our gym grannies, and probably a good 60-70% of their monthly draw besides.
Plus ALL of our stuff. We literally didn't leave them with a single damn barbell. The only one they actually owned was a cheap piece of shit that went to hell and been discarded years before.
Fuck those guys.
Not sure about the location on the west side of town, but ours on the east side was shuttered about two months ago.![]()

that gym deserves to be hardly pranked
Nice! Good for those assholes.Receipts and invoices.
All the shit was bought with our credit / debit cards, on personal accounts with the manufacturers.
Plus a lot of cops as clients is also a boon to the ol' credibility.
Nice! Good for those assholes.
Hope it works out for you man and keep at it I am sure you'll find another good location for your gym. If you run it well and provide a good environment for your clientele, your place will thrive and the new owners of your old gym will just cry.Ultimately the goal is to open our own place. I'd actually been cleared for a quarter mill through my bank. Put in a bid on a small warehouse and it was repeatedly rejected.
Owners wanted to lease and I wasn't interested. Wanted to be able to fall back on the space because WH leasing now's about $20/SF here. I have extensive experience in both logistics and operations on top.
Even from scratch though, we could've outfitted that bitch for about 14K. The yokes were hand fabricated, the stones made with DIY molds, the tires I get for free.
Sourcing and selling tires actually used to be a side hustle when they first got real popular. Lol. Now I do the same with kegs.
I'd also designed and fabricated a number of machines with another member. Patents pending on a few, should really pursue that side of things actually...
All those rules apply at the gym I work out at,, including rule 6. Its just worded differently at my gym. But one rule I am strongly in favor of is rule number 1. At my gym,, there are two groups of people. Fitness advocates and bodybuilders. Its a "us and them" attitude at this particular gym. Fitness advocates are always complaining to management about bodybuilders dropping weights, making loud noises, etc,, and management will always take the side of fitness advocates and shafts the bodybuilder. But when a bodybuilder complains of a god damn fitness advocate constantly watching youtube videos on their phone at the leg press machine,, then the complaint gets swept under the carpet,, and the leg press gets held back for use by other bodybuilders. To make things worse,, the god damn fitness advocate will just lower the leg press platform by two inches,, while having one 45 pound plate a side,,, just making a god damn fool of themselves.
And get this,, one of the 12 rules at this gym is "Do not use steroids"![]()

You know,, I wish there was such a thing as a "true" bodybuilding gym here in Canada,, but I've never come across one. I did use to work out a a Golds bodybuilding gym in my area,,, about 25 years ago,, but that gym is long done and over with. You see,, gyms these days cater to fitness advocates (ie,, the lazy). Gyms do not like bodybuilders. Why? Because we are an intimidation factor for fitness advocates. When a fitness avocate is looking around for a gym to join and they come across a gym full of bodybuilders,,,, then they become intimidated from our size. Lots of fitness advocates want to look like us (and are jealous) ,, but their too lazy to put in the effort. Fitness advocates are the majority everywhere and bodybuilders are the minority. They are a very discouraging and despondent group of people,, and they will make that known to the bodybuilders. I can go on page after page describing the stupid shit they do and have done at the various gyms I worked out at. I even came close to clocking a few of them out at certain times,, and I have given shit to a few of them in my time. But,,, what can we do? Fitness advocates are the money bag for gym owners,, and they will always get special treatmentThe steroid thing is actually written into the agreement / contract for most box gyms.
It's funny.
Sounds like you just need to find a better gym dude.
