They needed ID because there was no guarantee that you were who you said you were or even lived where you said you lived. I tracked down the mail carrier one time and he told me he needed ID. It’s really just a safe practice.Following for info. Exact same thing happened to me couple days ago. Everything i have read always says dont sign for shit. I missed the postman, but saw he was still in the neighborhood so went up to him and said "i think this was delivered to my roommate. Can i just grab it?" Asked for my id (which i was not about to do that) said he was out of town for a week to which he said they will hold it for a week. The whole id thing through me, but i guesa jo shmo off the street coulda just grabbed it. I did email source and they said it happens with international, but depends on state to state and it was out of their hands. Let us know what happens with signing the slip. Wanted to try that
