Construction thread... Show off your work!

I'm definitely not afraid to ask questions nor show my ignorance but what are "points "?
fair question.

It can mean different things depending on context. Points simply put is reference to revenue generated, basically a percentage in this case. It's used in my industry in that context, but I think it's traditionally used In a slightly different manner in traditional retail, not entirely sure though.

In this case, when I reference points (percentage), it's GP. Out of the gp I'm shooting for around 60% net.

That’s a great number! I run every year between 54-61% depending on if I get a lot of one type of specific freight. I have some loads I only make $50 on and some I make $350 after I pay my driver.

I'm wicked pumped gents. I landed my first personal contract that's over six figures. I'm trying to pull 30+ points out of it but you never know, could be a little more or less. Just happy as fuck to have a good contract at the start of the year!

I started a minority owned company last year and haven't put a shit ton of attention into it as of yet. Times are changing though...

awesome news mate, hope everything stays in your favour

Any painters in here? Need some insight

I’m a woodworker hobbiest. In my spare time I build furniture. I’ve got the woodworking down but now want to fine tune the detail work. I’m looking at hvlp turbine systems. Really thinking about the Fuji mini mite 3 or 4. Also as much as I hate painting I’m thinking with a system like this I may pick up a few Sunday side jobs.

Any recommendations/insights for a noob wanting to get into paint spraying?

No never sprayed with a hvlp. I bought a cheap plastic Wagner sprayer last year. To show it what a piece of crap it was I smashed it into about 10 pieces on my driveway before throwing it away. That thing got me pissed. Messed my finish up and kept clogging no matter how much I thinned.

Would definitely love to try one before buying. Will PM you

Still grinding. Finishing up a football practice facility. This is half a football field with endzone. Probably another 12 yards surrounding that as well. Peak is about 70' up, I have 4 massive cabinets running down that peak. A bunch of other cabinets too. The place is top notch. Gillette here I come!

Glad your still working, they shutdown the bay area in Monday. Off until further notice

I saw some crazy scaffolding on the last job I was going on. It was all suspended from chains. Pretty wild looking setup. Unfortunately it was at Google's new headquarters and we aren't allowed to post pictures of it
That’s quick deck, it’s neat stuff. We use it on bridges mostly.

Once this virus crap settles down, I may have to hit the road to N cali again. Maybe a refinery turnaround, or some commercial work in the city.
