At that point, I would definitely cancel just knowing they will be cheaper a couple of weeks later.

I dont think I would to be honest. Firstly I prepaid and cant, but had I not prepaid I dont think I would as I didnt pay Covid Mark Up and they were great in helping me what I am looking forward to is, I bought the best I could find and it is not top notch stuff. That said when people start selling the better equipment and bargain prices I will upgrade what I got.

Pretty sure Walmart screwed me, and I won't get the plates I ordered. I still have 295 lbs of plates borrowed from the gym, and 8 25 lb 1" standard weights.
I think I'm going to make the standard size 25 lb weights oly 24lb weights by milling out the centers. I'll give Walmart till the weekend, just in case. I have a CNC mill, but the PC I had running it died, so it will take several hours to even get the thing back up and running.

It required a 43 minute wait on chat to get that response. I have a load of floor mat pieces coming from the same group, as well as some additional plates due next week. I bet they end up "lost" too. Oh well, time to play with the mill...

I guess I'm the only one still buying plates. I picked up another 200lbs from offer up at under $1 a pound, only they have standard 1" holes. I have a lot of plates to bore out this weekend. I hope my mill is up to the task. I'll post pics of the carnage when I get the chance.
Milling out the 1" holes to 2" turned out to be a bigger project than I was expecting. The plates have a hardened coating that my $0.50 Chinese end mills don't like. After two broken end mills I found a speed that works, but it take almost an hour per plate. I cut 4 smaller plates today before I ran out of time. I guess I'll work on the others next week. It's at least more entertaining than watching TV.

I bought an old RX45 gear head mill a couple of decades ago, replaced the screws with ball screws and cranks with servos. Did the same with a Chinese lathe from Grizzly. It was mostly just a hobby, but the things are pretty useful sometimes.

I tried to make an AR-15 receiver once, but the dimensions I had turned out to be off, or I screwed up the code. I lost interest after that. When I retire in a couple more years, I might get back into it.

A bit off topic, but since I'm not on machining forums these days... Cutting more plates last night my coolant bottle ran dry. I have a mist/compressed air system I made to keep the cutter cool. I still had a pint of coolant (basically antifreeze) laying around, so I dumped it in and kept milling, but I forgot the stuff is supposed to be diluted 50 to 1.
It worked fine, and I got another pair of plates cut, but driving home I felt very dizzy and couldn't seem to maintain my speed. When I got out of the car, the incline on the driveway made it hard to walk to the door. I didn't feel normal again until this morning. Now I'm worried about even using the stuff diluted.

Got the big 50lb plates machined yesterday. I was worried they wouldn't fit on the machine, but it had room to spare. One of the best impulse buys ever, that mill. I also got some used 5/8 end mills form work, since they only cut with the end, and was able to get the time down to 33 minutes per plate.
After that I tried to cut 2 4Kg plates at the same time, and when I got them home they were slightly too small for the bar. No idea what happened. It's not like the end mill was flexing, and the mill uses servos with absolute encoders. Must be user error.
Oh, and I switched to synthetic coolant intended for machining, and had no issues with getting dizzy this time. That shit scared the hell out of me. I guess using cheap RV antifreeze has it's down side..
