Not my kid, a junior firefighter in our hall. Needs some guidance on getting fit and getting strong. Been working with him on cardio for the last few weeks now getting him into powerlifting. Hes got a ways to go, 95 was about all he could muster for 3 on bench so he has a ways to go.How old are your kids?
Lol I am oldDamn those kids are my age, lol. Not really kids at that point
Haha 95lbs, at 240That dudes benching 95 lbs or kg? How much does he weigh?
Oh boy, you have got your hands fullHaha 95lbs, at 240
Haha yes I do but he seems eager to learn.. we will see if he sticks with it. I had him following me on Sheiko just way lighter weight and think the volume will kill him. Thinking I will run Sheiko alone during the day, and then he can come over that night I will put him on 5x5 for nowOh boy, you have got your hands full

Yea something like starting strength a basic LP is probably better for a guy at that levelHaha yes I do but he seems eager to learn.. we will see if he sticks with it. Yeah they do but as a junior he gets a pass, and has to work on it. He doesnt get to do much as he is only 16, and He is a good kid, always helps out when I need a hand so kinda took him under my wing.Don't they have strength req's for firefighting? I get low numbers but thats really low
For sure, I am not sure he will stick with it, hoping I am wrong. Told him its more than just lifting. Started getting him to look at his nutrition being the biggest factor and the first thing to master. He has some weight to drop so keeping the cardio up, eating proper and lifting a few days a week will get him headrd down then right path. Trying to steer him away from OTC supplements right now but if he insists keep to protein, creatine.Yea something like starting strength a basic LP is probably better for a guy at that level
I dont know what it is, two things maybe.
2. A do over for me as I think I could have been a better father to my son? He ended up as a heroin, meth, junkie.
Thanks brother, I know you are 100% right, but it will always be in the back of a father's mind what he could have done differently. Please do not put that on yourself. While i personally do not know you, chances are it wasn't your parenting that lead your son down that path. Took my dad some years to realize that. Seen my dad cry twice in my life. Once when his father died when i was young, the second time was after my first rehab. I had gone back to using and he hadn't seen me in a couple months. He knew immediately i was using again, we had a convo that ended in him crying saying it was his fault he could have done better as a father. Which wasnt the case BY ANY MEANS. I just liked getting high and had a bunch of internal stuff i had to work through which had absolutely nothing to do with how i was raised.

'm honestly blown away by stuff like this. It seems like weakness that severe would be detrimental to your daily life. Like you could literally fall and not be able to get up. Or get stuck in a car because the door is too heavy to open.
Yeah I dont get it, I bet he can lift more than he does albeit not much more lol... see what he does over the coming weeks and I will push him. I am still not sure he willnstick with it but time will tell.
He hasnt yet, they dont let him. Pretty sure he can lift more but gives up...95lbs is light curling weight.
I know a few Firefighters, how does he carry the hoses etc lol
