I feel like in 2020 there are few real men, where are the John Waynes? It seems like society embraces weak men, men who are vulnerable, show weakness.

Who are role models today for kids? Where are the Michael Jordans, jerry rices?

What do you consider a real man? To me a strong independent man who doesn't rely on anyone. Who is 100% independent and doesn't care what anyone thinks. He does not rely on any prescription to control his mental health or physical health (anti depressants, blood pressure meds). He doesn't cry, he doesn't get flustered. He isn't a normie that just accepts whatever society pushes (examples gay marriage, fearing covid) he has his own views and doesn't follow every social movement.

Muscles, tattoos, brining attention to ones self, how many women you sleep with, how much $$ you have has nothing to do with it.

Most of these rugged tough guys are generally compensating for something. Don't buy into it, these guys putt from the rough just as much as girly men.

The 80's was the last era of hollywood tough men, today people want smart guys that can think fast on their feet. Education/Money is more important than muscle.

Tattoos are a sign on mental health issues.
Actually the guys who have tattoos are the ones who are usually , “softer” then ones who dont.
I do have some tattoos. I can see why tattoos are for compensating for something.

i tend to think anti depressants are not good. But if you are on the verge of going insane, they have there place. To keep someone from dieing.

Your definition of real men and mine are very different.

My definition includes producing more than you consume to support those who can't, children for example, and to have enough savings to get through hard times. It also includes producing offspring sufficient to continue or expand society. Even "stone age" hunter gatherer types did this, or we wouldn't exist today.

Your definition seems to be a self centered asshole who cares nothing for others, takes only what he finds for free, and presumably hangs around internet forums trolling others with mind numbing ideas of creating an auto genocidal society.

No I walked out at 46 years of age after working seven days a week 12-18hrs a day, dealing with constant stress and headaches.

House paid off, vehicles paid off, no debt to anyone, enough money to last me the rest of my life and and two years salary bonus as well.

Never had kids, saved every penny I had and invested in rentals. I work to fix up my rental properties and sometimes that's a lot of work gutting everything, but it's my work with no one else telling me what to do.

Being employed, working for someone else is a curse from where I stand. And even though people might think I had a great job, I can assure you it sucked the life out of me, even in my sleep I was constantly trying to trouble shoot problems for the next day.

I've gotten to the point reflecting on life that I think most of what we do is without purpose. I don't give a shit about what people want, what do they actually need. Lots of people eventually realize buying shit and working your ass off to do so is a pointless existence.

We live in a consumer culture. Americans have lost their damn minds and they work so hard to fit in, not wanting to stand out. This cookie cutter experience where you are expected to do everything in the proper sequence, conform to what the flock is doing so you can keep your self esteem or at least not be looked down upon.

My heroes are people that call out the technological system that has enslaved us and robbed us of our autonomy. Instead of fulfilling the promise of technology making work obsolete, it instead created more problems then it fixed, especially with rapid changes that cause extreme anxiety and mental problems. Creating a society where 40+hr work weeks are the goal, even when we are drowning in excess of what we need to survive, this is madness, it's a self imposed slavery to a system I want no part of.

We don't need children, we have 7.7 billion people. The dumbasses are always gonna have plenty of children, we see western societies with better education wising up to the problem of overpopulation, but not wising up to their over consumption.

When I was born the united states had half the population it has now and it was a hell of a lot better back then than it is today. They covered all of the surrounding woods I grew up surrounded by with houses, they drained the huge river I had by me to a trickle that is only 1 foot wide by 1 foot deep.

We don't need more people, we need a mass die off of people. And not a violent die off, just stop having babies.

And no one needs to produce more than they consume. Trashing the environment to hand out garbage to give yourself a dopamine release is short sighted. We need to teach self control, self discipline, a stoic approach to life where you resist the urge to consume. You no longer are a slave to the advertising culture we live, you walk away, you have the ability to keep your hand out of the cookie jar.

Flenser I think your views come from your religious beliefs that teach you that you have dominion over this planet, to be fruitful and populate the planet with parasites, you don't, you have a right to exist and allow the next generation to exist, and all life forms the right to exist, taking only want you need to survive and no more.
