Salt is doing the opposite for me (please need a expert opinion)

Has it to be this pedialyte? Or can I just go to the pharmacy and buy a electrolyte drink/powder?

So as far as I understood

I should by Himalaya salt and use this and start supplementing electrolyte powder from the pharmacy.

Right?
I guess at this point he blocked me after the Zyzz thread. Oh well lol.

Sodium chloride is still sodium chloride....

I am assuming you are going to go in th direction of sea salt or Himalayan.

The electrolyte profile of the other salts are still neglible.

If you are talking about half potassium chloride and half sodium chloride, then that's a different story

I knew you were going to go with this.
Both are still 98% sodium chloride...

David just get some potassium citrate to down daily... Take 25% of daily value...

For @David44

As well, Trace Mineral electrolyte drops into your water throughout the day and especially around training! Hope this helps!

Poor sodium:potassium ratio is a VERY common cause of diet based hypertension. Generally people that eat too much sodium and not enough potassium are the ones the doctors are telling to cut salt from their diets because of their high blood pressure.

Gotta agree with @Cridi887 here, supplement with potassium OR eat a lot more high potassium foods (red meat, fruits, potatoes, spinach, etc.)

Idk man. I think just taking some potassium citrate in bulk form is more beneficial and what should the primary goal to maintain balance
The absolute best thing would be to get a mineral analysis and supplement properly. Just like bloods and gear you don’t just add caber because your on Tren or deca. You do if bloodwork shows needed! Works in the same way.

A proper in depth mineral balance can go a LONG way, look into it sometime guys it was a big potential in physical enhancement

water retention from salt doesn't work the same way as in blood work.... I look at blood work all day...

best thing to do is keep hydration up and keep potassium:sodium to a 1:1 ratio

your kidneys try to autoregulate the balance.. assuming its healthy

You’re conflating basic biochemistry/hydration required for life to exist with using exogenous hormones for recreation. It isn’t the same at all.

It is though, we use PED’s to optimize human potential, another pathway is have a proper mineral balance for basic cell function. I’m not pulling this out of my ass.

A proper mineral balance in an athlete is absolutely an advance in progress.

If you have high amounts a of unbound iron your going to be toxic and your cells cannot function optimally, it’s a pro oxidant. that goes for nutrient absorption, digestion everything

Your body regulates external electrolytes very well but still requires intake.

When you do exogenouse peds your body fully shutdown.

It is not the same.

Blood work still does not reflect salt/potassium that plays a role in fluid retention, elevated BP, etc. You are pulling this out of your ass.

No no no a hair mineral analysis, you can’t get that from reg doc. It show uranium to phosphorus to copper zinc magnesium and have a professional in that field review and formulate a protocol.

You are right though about the relation to hormonal shut down after exogenous hormone use. I was unaware that was your connection.

Purely pointing out that those type of specific mineral test have a place in bodybuilding and human performance.

I wasn’t implying you were pulling it out of your ass. You seem to have a decent idea of what you’re talking about.

What I’m saying though is that comparing electrolyte balance to recreational PED use isn’t a good metaphor.

And I wouldn’t call OP’s path forward “optimization” I would call it “getting his shit in check”. Optimization, IMO, is dialing in that last 5-10% to reach 100% compliance. Getting his shit in check would be the first 90-95% of compliance just to be in a maintainable state.

I think a better metaphor would be “hey I’m running grams of AAS but I’m still fat, why am I still fat?” Well it’s because your diet sucks. In this case, it sounds like OP is having an issue with the basics of hydration and electrolytes.

Well anyways the new hocus pocus comes out soon on Disney plus
