Looking for 100lb dumbbells

I paid $500 for a bunch of random equipment on Facebook Marketplace that included a few hundred pounds of 1" plates and six pairs of adjustable dumbbell handles. I used them to make the pairs of dumbbells that I didn't have. The 100's are a little awkward, but they get the job done.

The standard 1" plates can usually be found pretty cheap if you keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace.

Why good sources? I use fitness factory direct but they want 160 for shipping , total cost 500! I don’t care if old etc
“YES4ALL” adjustable dumbells on Amazon. They go up to 100lbea with the plates they come with but with enough room left on the bar to add more 10lb plates to bring it to 120lb ea.

I bought these during covid to make ends meet when the gym was closed. They are about $300-$350 now I believe.

Edit- $400

Yeah, sadly finding accurate and affordable weight can be a pain.

A couple of years ago I moved into a neighborhood that was smothered with new construction...so I wandered around, flipping gums with the teams and I was able to walk away with some nice cinder concrete blocks and scrap wood.

So I made a few dumbs by slicing the concrete with a proper "saws all" blade, drilled holes on each end with a hefty compound drill and boom! Weight is weight as we say. Did the same for a bar as well.

Worked fantastic until my local gym reopened. Before I went to that trouble I lifted chunks from an oak tree I cut down prior.

Anyway I apologize for the novel, just gotta do what you have to do. Much luck on picking up some plates reasonably!

On the contrary, it is always interesting to read stories from life. Each of us is a treasure trove of stories that will be of interest to others.

Damn, that dude is serious!

His smile is the best part, though.

Im left wondering if he really built that physique in a real gym and just went there for this photo op, or if he really built himself using scrap from a junkyard. Either way hes looking jacked, but if its the latter then this dudes next lvl compared to guys here. Given its africa i wouldnt be surprised if its the latter. Your cinder block post reminded me of this, hes got a cement dumbbell in the background of the left photo.

I wouldn't be surprised either, given his region. Either way kudos to the fella as he is obviously into it lol. Cinder blocks and all

I also wonder how he ate, given that they have poor strange people and people are starving.
