Is it wrong that I don't Allow People to work in with me?

So I gotta ask is it wrong that I don't allow people to work in with me? I also do not work in with others, I literally will ask someone how many sets and if they say 8 sets ill just do something else near by and wait for them to be done. So again Is it wrong that I dont allow people to work in with me?

Yes, you are wrong. If I owned the gym in which you were working out and pulled this shit, I would toss you out of the gym and never let you return. Criminal trespass. Police report. Return = go to jail.

Asshole.

how is that? When most people now a days they all sit around and play on their damn phones? So im supposed to change my workout times for others? Or cater to other people who dont even workout consistently? Or is this just a joke? BUt i am still confused why its wrong? As i dont barge into peoples work out i sit quietly and wait for others to finish theirs before using the equipment i want to use.

So your saying your that guy that thinks he is entitled to use whatever equipment inside of the gym no matter whose using it correct?
Everybody is entitled to use whatever equipment in the gym. That is why everybody pays dues to work out there.

There are hundreds of members and only so many pieces of equipment.

Working in lets everybody, you included, get in a workout.

Now, am I going to work in on the leg press with a girl who weighs 95 pounds and uses one 45 pound plate loaded on each side of the leg press. No! But if you are a dude, yes.

And I tell every single person who asks how many sets I have - well, I tell them, but then I invite them to work in. If I find out later they were waiting and did not ask, I go out of my way to tell them, "In the future, come work in. You are always welcome. Just come work in."

Ought to be normal gym etiquette everywhere.

Like a proper gym goer, with good gym etiquette. Couldnt agree more with you.

From reading OPs post, i cant believe how an entitled shitbag you are at the gym. Damn. Everyone else is paying to work out there as well, they are your fellow gym goers.

Are you one of those dickheads that dont rerack your weights too? fuck off with that shit, this isnt your childhood bedroom where your mom cleans up your mess.

No way I am sitting and waiting 10-15 minutes while some metrosexual plays on his phone.

No.

So im supposed to change my workout times for others?
I don't even know WTF that means.
You have rest periods between sets.
Help the other dude load and unload any weights if you are concerned that his set is going to take longer than your rest period (but get real, it's not).

I work in. If it's a machine, I try to memorize the other guys settings, and after each of my sets, I put them all back how he had them. Most of the other guys who are serious about the gym have come to appreciate this approach, because they know that they can work in with me, too, and neither of us are going to get in the way of the other's workout.

what about covid? and social distancing?

I've belonged to gyms where there was only one sled and as many as 4 people, all of whom lifted different weight, would share that one sled. Everyone helping take plates on and off. Two at a time if necessary. And quickly.

I'm not going to make a judgment about what's right or wrong. But if you were using equipment in the gym that I wanted to share, I wouldn't give you a choice.
Hell, yes. I'd help you load or unload plates, and when you finish your set, you would help me load or unload plates.

And we both get in our workout while BoloYang2023 stares angrily at us from the corner by the dumb bells.

Then why make a thread about it asking a bunch of strangers that didn't give you the answer you wanted ? Why make the thread if a moral quandary didn't exist, yet every post you claim to "not care".

not saying i dont care about how people feel here im just saying like i dont care to wait for others to finish so i am asking why others would care so much

I think it really depends on the equipment. I never get asked when I did go to the gym(I have a decked out home gym now). I never ask either

However... if they do...

Machines/cables/benches they absolutely can work in.
I might say no if I did something like stiff legged deadlifts, leg press, etc.
