Is it wrong that I don't Allow People to work in with me?

I think this might still be about working in? If so then I’m always game but I’m not supper happy if they take too long, I tend to time my sets to 90 sec intervals and if I’m sitting for 2-3 min while they do one arm at a time on the pull down machine, I’m not happy. The only time this happened was with some 20 year old kid asking to work in, generally people seem to avoid me since I’m not talking and pretty focused like most of the older crowd

Let’s think about this. You’re likely doing 3-5 sets. So,
30secs or less of work 90secs rest or 2 mins or less per set. So 6 mins at 3 sets and 10 at 5 sets
No one is going to ask you to work in until you’ve done at least 1 set… so what’s the point of letting someone work in when they can just wait 4 mins or so and you’d be done and they’d have the equip all to themselves?
Seems silly.

On that machine I do 8 sets of 8 but really it’s just an ingrained old school protocol I have from my old powerlifting gym days. You just let anyone who asks work in, that’s just how it’s always been even if it makes little sense.

How often do you press the light switch to turn the light on?

I can only imagine the kind of lasting ordeal I would be in if someone gave me a couple of good ones in the jaw, nose, kidneys, liver, ribs, forehead etc. There's a good chance I'd never be the same after that.
If he can't focus a punch, no big deal. If he can focus a punch... that would be life altering

Asshole move, there is no harm in letting someone else work in if all you’re doing is resting between sets. You’re being an asshole and I actually respect ppl more who ask to work in with me because I know that they must be serious abt working out to even ask that nowadays

I do have to say. the nice thing about machines being taken up, it forces me to try machines/equipment I havent used before.

Honestly, I started doing some of my favorite exercises because someone held up the machine, cables, or free weight.

I've never asked or had someone ask to work in with me.

I really don't see the problem with it. I'm never doing more than 4 or 5 sets on the same machine anyways. I also don't go during peak hours though. I only workout around 10am or 2pm on the weekdays. And it's dead as shit on weekends.

I did have 2 girls ask me to get their 90lb dumbbells they were doing their little one handed sumo squat / deadlifts with. Whatever the fuck that exercise is called. Then they worked in right next to me with their asses in my face. I'm not sure if they thought I was cool or a simp. This still haunts me.

Lol ya, if anyone ever asks how many sets I have left and it’s more than 1, I offer them to work in if they’d like usually people just say they’ll wait unless you have 3+ sets left

16-20 mins on one piece of equipment is just as ridiculous as letting people work in.
