I wish I heard more of bodybuilders who are also outdoorsman! I keep hearing "mass and hiking dont mix" but the best hiking shape I was in was with 225lbs of fat blubber naturally, climbing mountains over 15 miles and 5000ft of elevation gain. I recently got into downhill skiing and love it for some rest day exercise or early day cardio! I cant help but think there are others who dont want anything to do with treadmills!

I hike a ton (deset is my fav.), love to snowboard and would live in a sprinter van if I didn’t have kids.

Up until my wife got pregnant last year we were preparing to climb Mt. Rainer. We had done some hikes/scrambles that requires rappelling and stuff and did a 14’er (longs peak) and had plans to take some mountaineering courses and spend some time on a glacier then tackle Rainer.. but alas, my little cum dumpster fertilized my sperm and here we are.

Oh hell yeah! Longs Peak is fun as hell albeit a brutal hike! And dont give up hope! You could always put the little ones in a homemade sweat shop and have them pay for a guide up Rainier!

Treadmills are terrible for the knees. I live in an area that has 7 months of freezing weather, it'll be the first sunny day of the year and some ass will be in the gym on the treadmill. Um, a walk around the block in the sun in a nice low crime town doesnt count as "at the gym" I guess, so its not really exercise to these bird brains. I hike everywhere and run distance, but I am getting fat and running less. A couple years and 50 lbs back I trained for and ran a marathon. Now I get 2 miles in if I'm motivated. Love being on ski mountains(worked at one for years) but dont ski. I'd like to start, but im a f'n fuckin poor ass dumb fuckin moron.

Yea longs was fun man. We did key hole route and did it all in one day. Camped just below the trailhead at the camp ground and started around 2:30am. One of my most memorable hikes with my wife. We were supposed to do another 14’er on our honeymoon but the weather didn’t cooperate unfortunately.

Ha. Money isn’t the issue, now it’s time and getting the stars to align for child care which won’t happen for a while.

Kids 3 months old, so still kinda fragile but we have a hiking backpack baby carrier sitting in her closet just waiting!
She’s already flown two different places and been to a ski resort and up to 12,000ft elevation, handles it like a champ! This summer will be her first time hiking and camping so we’ll see how she does.
Oldest loves to hike, middle child doesn’t. Makes travel and stuff kinda difficult.

Good thing about the 14ers though is theyll always be there! Im itching to try to hit some of the harder ones this summer

Go to goodwill and look out for some cheap bum ass skis, thats how I learned was on some 90s planks with old crusty boots a good friend of mine gave me

Hell yea man!

We’re currently trying to plan a trip for the end of June. We’ll have the baby so unfortunately the desert is out for now. Currently leaning towards Idaho. Seems like there’s a ton of cool things there, great national Forrest’s for dispersed camping, and we can check out the Tetons. Doubt we’ll fool with Yellowstone due to the crowds and permits and such. Plus the weather should be just right with tons of hiking

Oh god yeah theres tons to see over there, craters of the moon, pinging rocks (i think thats the name), Bear lake and a bunch of over things right over the wyoming border. I havent been there just yet but done a ton of research on it, thats a solid spot, especially with family!

The two older kids will be at summer camp so it’s just gonna be us and the baybay. But yes, it really does seem like an incredible area. I’ll post updates on it!
