Chinese imports subject to 54% base tariff

The primary concern for gear is the enhanced data requirements being imposed to sort out "trusted senders" from "untrusted senders", and the heavy enforcement on the Chinese logistic companies that have been the key to moving the stuff.

It is very unlikely gear vendors will have companies willingly accept their packs.

The days of easily having gear shopped directly from China to homes in the US will be over in a few weeks.

im so happy i dont have an orange as my president

This has been in works since 2021.

Biden got the ball rolling with an executive order last September and said ending this loophole was his top priority before leaving office (he didn't).

Several hundred Chinese companies volunteered to provide this enhanced data as part of a trial for the program, which ensured they'd be on the "trusted senders" list whenever the inevitable end of de minimus came around.

It'll be packs from unrecognized senders that get pulled for customs inspections.

TLDR... is the "enhanced data" part of Trump's exec. order?

The requirement was announced January 29th, going into effect on March 17th, but from what I understand won't be enforced until de minimus ends in May 2nd.

This shifts a lot of responsibility onto the shipping company, which is why it's going to be hard for UGL vendors to get someone to transport their packs.

I've seen some of this before, like the 10 digit classification codes. However, wouldn't these requirements be difficult for even an auto parts store?

They've had years to prepare. There are multiple software packages that automate all of this. Every part of the supply chain in China has these codes in place to accommodate this process.

The key here is the requirement that the seller / sender be accurately identified.

It's like the "know your customer" requirement for financial institutions, putting them on the hook if a criminal organization used them to launder money, for instance. This give the banks strong incentive
to comply.

When data is transmitted to the CBP, the packs from unfamiliar senders, without an established history will be flagged for inspection. That's why companies in China got on waiting lists to join the CBP pilot program that allowed them to provide this information for the last few years. To establish themselves as legit merchants in the eyes of the CBP.

Temu, Schein and the rest of the volunteers won't be having their packs pulled on a regular basis, speeding delivery and leaving business more or less as it was, with the exception of the tariff being charged by an automated process.

Insane....

Supply and demand will never stop any of it . They outlawed booze, the supply exploded, they outlawed drugs, the supply exploded, they made guns hard as hell to buy, any moron with 500 bucks can buy one anywhere and doesn't even have to buy it at a store. It will never stop,or slow down ,just adapt to the situation, things will be shipped, moved, hidden differently, when there's money to be made there's always a solution, the days of slapping it in an envelope like a letter and mailing it is over, but it will never be stopped dare I say slowed down even, this is just a temporary hiccup. Stock up and have patience, shit ain't never gonna stop.

Learn how to use the dark web!! Drughub is an excellent example,I have used them for years! Packaged are insured, they actually use stealth lol not the silly crap we deal with on here and you can get ANY FUCKING THING! Even steroids raws, and pharmaceuticals, etc. And every vendor has a rating,no guesswork looking for who's real and who's fake, there is steroids galore on there and a lot of Chinese facilities that are operating illegally but can hide it much easier on there, when you open up a package you shouldn't be able to find the drugs and that's how they operate not like these Chinese raw sellers, you want a 5 gallon bucket of ice straight from the cartel, click and buy, 3 days FedEx straight from Canada .it's like that with everything, the supply and stock for everything is way more, if you can imagine it someone is selling it,you can buy shit you never even thought possible 3 days to your mailbox. Once you get on there your fucking with big-time dealers, cartel direct, and right out the back door of legit pharmaceutical companies from crooked employees

All fentanyl and meth precursors chemicals that are STRICTLY PROHIBITED!! I seen guys on here talking about not being able to find a ephedrine or sudophedrine anywhere, I know exactly where you can buy it kilos of it all day long, you can go right on there and buy straight from the place that produces it, my point is nobody is afraid to sell anything not even legitimate big pharma, in all the years I used it,I never got burnt once because I did a little research first, I've been buying raws like you guys lately because it's just so stupid easy, but I know damn well where to find them if this dries up and I guarantee that's back where I'm going to if this raw situation becomes scarce, because they ain't stopping that shit, there is no stopping it,it's a runaway train and it left the station years ago.

“China will be hit with a new 34% tariff, adding to previous duties, like the 20% tariff Trump imposed over fentanyl. That means the base tariff rate on Chinese imports will be 54%, before adding pre-existing levies.”

This shits just crazy. Only people chearing this on is Trump administration and his cheerleaders like Charles Lutnik. Companies use raw ingredients from China to make their products. For instance supplement companies. I'm wondering how all this shit is gonna work out for us who order from other countries like India.

I am not familiar with US imports, just a EU peasant here but that sounds like prices will get highly inflated and its time to stock up while you can

No one said that the influx will seize to a halt. It's just that it will become more expensive.
Exactly, every guy that's been in this long-term and has had a 95% successful rate of getting stuff through, has had to grease several palms along the way to make it work, and that's not going to change, just everybody's cut is going to increase, and we are in turn going to have to pay slightly more so that everybody can get paid as well. It all comes down to money, and everybody's going to want their share, but nothing's going to stop
