Journey to the bottom of the food chain; Angus gains 0.33g of muscle!

Wasn't blaming him at all, it came out like that ,sorry...not a native English speaker.
And I know all about the confounding factors that contribute to dexa error ,an experienced eye is way more accurate, not at evaluating true body fat but the look and that is all we care about at the end of the day.
Some guy might have thicker skin and his 5% dexa will look like shit compared to a guy with thin dry skin for example

Exactly, and sorry but i didn't mean it came out badly from you, it was more of a general thought about some members on this forum. There's nothing to apologise for, English is not my 1st too and i get what you saying.

Nice meals, nice pump, nice macros and nice log overall. Keep up the great work man.
Thanks brother!
How the hell is that 12% BF? you have striations front to back ,top to bottom....
I have a tendency to overestimate body fat; just one small part of my body dysmorphia, unfortunately
You can't blame him, from under estimate bf % here we went to the other side of over estimate. I'd have him in 10% if not sub 10 but that's just a blind guessing.

Bodyfat measuring is just pointless and dumb, it can only get you confused. From the time the actual methods of measuring bf % can vastly differ between dexa scan and skinfold caliper, imagine what happens with our eyes and everyone's perception lol
Right on brother; even now with the slight film of water I have on my stomach from all the food and gear I see myself as 20% body fat, lol. I think a lot of us are like this.
Good shit. Following.
Welcome to the show!

Insulin update

I decided to do 8 units before training yesterday; blood sugar was relatively stable but it did hit mid 80s at some point during training. Overall I think this is a great dose for me right now.

I tried 10ths with my post meal and well, my bg hit 52 at the 2 hour mark, so I had 25g of carbs and that fixed me up just fine, so 10iu followed by training is definitely not for me right now.

Other than that insulin is making me LOVE training so much more; I’m getting ridiculously stronger and pumps are insane. Endurance is on another level, too.

Health update

Fasting blood sugar was 84 today; very happy about this because it was 105 yesterday (too high for my taste), but I’m thinking that’s either because of Retatrutide, lack of sleep, or because of the 5000 calorie day I had just before. I’m still taking 2mg Reta this week, but I plan to pump it to 3mg next week.

I’ve also been taking 2 doses of dihydroberberine (200mg x2) with my first and last meals.

Small update/eats

Weight has been stabilizing around 75.5kg; I suspect this will be my baseline for this phase. So far...

Sat: 74.7kg
Sun: 75.35kg
Mon: 75.85kg
Tues: 75.55kg

I'm looking MUCH fuller, although with a bit less defined lines. Strength and endurance are through the roof, though.

After today's leg workout
A9iyYJW.jpeg

I had cereal in cereal flavored whey before training, with a good 8iu of humalog. Very yummy! Around 140g (150g of cereal) carbs, 55g protein, and < 2g fat.

ozWwKQl.jpeg

I might be settling on 8iu humalog pre and post, for now. My body seems to be doing 15g+ of carbs per 1iu of slin before things start to go south.

That aside, I've been digging these overnight oats (with dried cranberries! Yum) for work! Very delicious (and different). I like them with ground/blended oats. I actually ground all my oats; they digest and taste better that way.

CeHTMN1.jpeg

New shoes arrived in the mail today as well (Kayano 31, stability shoe from Asics). These are absolutely amazing if you have collapsed arches/flat feet (which I do). I also have them in black/white.

Update on Retatrutide

Does reta make anyone else HUNGRIER than baseline (without GLP-1)? For the first time in my life I've been waking up SO HUNGRY, like I could eat a horse!

I have 0 food noise and I no longer crave junk or anything in particular really, but I do want to eat something healthy and hearty as soon as I wake up, which is strange for me because for years I'd have my first meal 6-7 hours after waking up and I wouldn't even be hungry, now I need two breakfasts, lol.

Also, I can't help but feel that reta is actually INCREASING my fasting BG. I do know it takes 3-4 weeks to reach full dose saturation, though. Aside from these two issues I'm loving it. 0 food noise and 0 affect on ability to eat. Perfect for a progressive phase.

If not for the heart rate increase; so far I'm managing with 2.5mg Nebivolol, it keeps my RHR between 80-90 (without Reta it's a good 10-15 points lower). I used to dip down to 64-66 during sleep, now the best I can hope for is 76-77. I have Ivabradine coming in maybe soon, so hopefully I'll be able to benefit more from that (fingers crossed it clears customs).

Early morning update

Bodyweight

Wed: 76.1kg
Thurs (today): 76.25kg

gxX38Sy.jpeg

innVDrX.jpeg

Weight is still climbing up! I reckon I'll be 80kg by next week, lol. That's just inasne; I wonder what's filling me up so hard, though (probably the Humalog). Bare in mind I was ALREADY on 500mg of test + 8iu of HGH prior to starting this phase.

Training has been a BLAST; PRs, pumps, and endless energy.

Fasting blood sugar been averaging 85-95, but I suspect this will be lower once Reta reaches dose saturation (in about 10 days), which brings me to my next point...

MY IVABRADINE PASSED CUSTOMS AND IS ON THE WAY RIGHT NOW

Never been so excited for a drug before, lol.

I measured my blood pressure at 115/75 this morning, which is perfect, but I'm on 2.5mg Nebivolol which is known to have a slight blood pressure lowering effect. I might need to add a low dose Telmisartan once I remove this from my regiment (hopefully won't have to, though).

You guys like protein bars? I typically don't, but I recently tried this company (Barebells) and my god these bars taste straight up like GOOD candy bars. My favorites are the caramel choco and the creamy crisp bars.

uPyxtWo.jpeg

These date bars are also amazing as a snack; 5g of fat in 400 calories worth of carbs. It's almost straight up just carbs.

wMzxgUg.jpeg

No more lifting days this week; I got cardio today (and probably tomorrow), then we start week 2!

Barebells are probably one of the best protein bars around. Even my wife, who hates protein bars/shakes, loves em.
Definitely! I just had my sister try it (she also hates protein bars) and she loved the caramel chocolate! I'm byuing myself an entire box of these today, haha.

On a different note, you guys NEED to hop on these auto injectors

ik3FVaj.jpeg

CV5Zbp8.jpeg

The fat one does the injection for you, unlike the slimmer one. I mainly use it for glutes and VG (had it before but it fell and broke, just received a new unit yesterday); the needle goes straight in instantly and you don't ever feel it.

In fact, if you're not looking you won't even know the needle was in, and the injection goes pretty smooth at a consistent speed, too (at least if using a 23/25g gauge, I use 23g because it's smoother).

End of week 1 update

This week has been a blast; training was on point, diet was on point, and sleep was pretty good as well.

I'm LOVING the Humalog pre-training. The endurance and recovery it gives is nothing like I have experienced before, it makes it worth it for these benefits alone IMO.

Brothers I AM FULL

GV1RqdE.jpeg

Wouldn't be complete without a dirty mirror picture, of course

Here's a quick summary of this week's numbers
gO7dWiO.jpeg

I also had this banging' meal today (beef Shawerma, fries, and beef Safeeha -beef plate-), all submerged in the sweet, sour goodness that is pomegranate molasses

olMsZzK.jpeg

I reckon there's about 1500 calories in this meal, but I had two candy bars immediately after, bringing it to 1850. The day isn't over yet but I guess I'll end up anywhere between 3500-4000.

Now, I almost didn't have this meal because I just don't have the cravings for fast food anymore (thanks to GLP-1s), and I'm still a bit afraid of putting on unnecessary body fat, but this is probably good for me in the long run. But then again I'm running 10iu of HGH, a GLP-1, and cutting for two weeks every 8 weeks, I really shouldn't have any reason to worry about bodyfat, lol.

I'm also wondering if I should continue to eat at maint during my off days or go into a slight deficit, to better control BG. I'm currently averaging 85-95 FBG on Humalog days, but I'd like to better improve these numbers, which might happen on its own anyways once Reta reaches full saturation or I up the dose to 4mg.

I'm planning to do one more week of 2mg, followed by two weeks at 3mg, and then finally settle on 4mg. It's happening guys...

THE PROGRESS PHASE IS IN FULL EFFECT, LET'S GO

Week 2, day 1 (19/04/2025), BW 76.9kg

Leg day A/Insulin update

5j8FBvp.jpeg

I've been doing A LOT of blood sugar testing after every insulin use since starting, and I noticed a few things...

A) There are no blood sugar dips past the 2.5 hours mark except ones that are exercise induced
B) My BG will continue to climb up if I give it some time, up to the 3 hour mark, probably due to my intra shake. For instance, I could finish cardio and be at 70, but then 10 minutes later I'll be up to 85 again, etc.

Doing the math for my pre-intra window, I have about 200g of carbs, which is overkill for 8 units of Humalog, so I tried 10 units today.

- Pumps were even better!
- Blood sugar still very stable, if it dips too low I just relax for 10 minutes and it climbs back up again.
- I was at 110 by the 3 hour mark (slightly higher today due to cheat meal/day yesterday), so my next experiment will 25g of intra instead of 50g, while keeping the 10iu of Humalog pre.

As a result, I will add this extra 25g of carbs to my post and increase slin from 8 to 10 as well. My sweet spot seems to be 15g per iu, anything lower causes me to go hypo in under 2 hours. 10iu for my post at 125g carbs took me down to low 50s.

Other than that, I had a blast today! Pump was so gnarly my lines disappeared and my legs turned into a blood log!

Day 2, upper body A

Had another great workout today; weights up up (yet again), pumps are insane, and endurance is out of this world! I must say though this is probably because I dropped Nebivolol 3 days ago (it always turns me into a complete zombie, even at 1.25mg), I'm already feeling so much stronger!

I started Ivabradine 2.5mg today (just now, will report soon).

Mandatory back shot, since I rarely post these

I must say I'm a bit unhappy about this film of water covering my entire body, but I know it's normal given that I gained about 10lbs (of water and glycogen) so far, and I'm likely to gain even more before my weight stabilizes.

Today's workout

Insulin update

I have shifted around some carbs to comfortably allow for 10iu of humalog pre and post, and it seems to be working very well. I think it's time I start testing BG less, especially considering I went through over 60 strips last week alone. I have a pretty good idea on how my body responds to Humalog now.

Some eats from today

Work, overnight oats with banana and honey

NoWIwLT.jpeg

Around 120g of carbs, 1.5 scoops isolate with fat free creamer and instant coffee. I also had a smaller breakfast early in the day consisting of greek yogurt, berries and an apple

Post
8m88uTG.jpeg

LP5HNnT.jpeg

Usually have oats but I was feeling a bit bored today, cereal was good, this time with regular skim milk (not cereal protein). I like this brand because they don't add crazy amounts of iron to their cereal.

Around 140-145g of carbs.

Oh I forgot to add, I rotate starting muscle group on upper days, so one week I start with back and the next I start with chest.

Also, I got me more of these goodies!

Really enjoying your updates man, IMO, one of the best logs on MESO right now.
Thanks brother, glad to have you for the ride!

Update 21/04/2025, new weight!

I weighed in today at...waaaait for it.. A WHOOPING 78.65 KAY GEES!

I have a feeling I'll hit 80kg before the end of this week, tt's crazy how muhc weight I have put on from the slin (mostly) considering I was already on 500mg of test + 8iu HGH before I started this phase. I ended my cut at nearly 70kg (tad under) and mere weeks later I'm nearly 79kgs!

Which brings me to my next point; heart rate (first Ivabradine update)!

Reta has done a number on my heart rate (along with the added weight, of course), it's around 20+ over baseline which was high 60s/low 70s at the end of my cut, just yesterday (with Nebivolol out of my system) it was 95+ at rest, absolutely a no go for me.

I'm currently on my third dose of Ivabradine 5mg (doses twice a day, so one day and a half) and my RHR is down a whooping 15 points, sometimes 20, with ZERO fatigue. This is insane, and I'm loving it.

I'll continue to take 5mg until my RHR stabilizes and then go down to 2.5 x2 a day, see if that's too far off the mark or not.
I also decided to bump Retatrutide to 3mg (1mg MWF) a week. Hoping for better insulin sensitivity/FBG.

Today was a rest day, so mainly did some cardio and walked around 12,000 steps.
p7TthrT.jpeg

With all the added weight incline walking has become so freakin' difficult, man. My back KILLS me even at a mere 8%, I'm might have to go to the gym to do the recumbent bike because this is HARD now, and not in a good way.

Regular walking is fine, but I need to get my heart rate up for them cardio benefits, and if I actually go to the gym I prob will end up doing some abs and perhaps some stairs, too.

Some eats from today (around 3000 calories, higher fats, slightly lower protein)

First breakfast (round 300 cals, two cinnamon apple rice cakes with honey + protein bar, delicious)
G2Xug3G.jpeg

1x139ao.jpeg

Real breakfast (overnight oats with banana and honey mixed in, these are amazing, guys)
uMWpbJx.jpeg

Lunch (egg sammiches in potatoe buns with kashkaval cheese, an apple, and greek yogurt)
OuAJ5Gu.jpeg

yWwdutR.jpeg

Oatmeal IN LOW FAT MILK INSTEAD OF SKIM MY GOD DOES IT TASTE ONE MILLION TIMES BETTER, with pecans (my favorite) and another protein bar cause' these are so good.
BWUGmmj.jpeg

I'm still considering dropping down to a deficit on those rest days; part of me feels it's overkill, and another thinks it's probably absolutely great for insulin sensitivity. I feel maint is probably a good medium.

Did I say I walk 1000-1500 after every meal? Helps keep BG down.

I see One Piece i like!

Same here. Every sunday first thing in the morning, cardio and the new episode, the break they had was so annoying
Oh man tell me about it; I'm a manga reader so I was DYING to see certain things animated (that initial kick VS Kizaru was FIRE, though).

Got any recommendations for cardio time? I'm running out of things to watch on my daily bike session!

If you haven't watched Demon Slayer yet, I highly suggest that. Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Fire Force (2nd season just came out) are also really good/popular/mainstream anime out right now.

I started Fire Force today, great first impression, definitely finishing it one episode per cardio sessions at a time! Haha. Thanks brother.
Solo Leveling, Kajiu No 8 and Overlord are also really damn good!
Overlord is one of my ALL TIME favorites! Great stuff.

You guys have such a good taste, I love it.

Update 22/04/2025: weight hasn't gone up today, did I stabilize?! WE SHALL FIND OUT.

I got home earlier than usual today so I had the time to eat some cereal and make those absolutely delicious APPLE CINNAMON PANCAKES, FAT FEREE.
leXP19M.jpeg

145-150g carbs, virtually no fat ( I made a double batch, more frozen for tomorrow), 10iu Humalog

Also bought this, it was shit (tossed it out)
y6D3QtW.jpeg

Typical post (I was going to get coco puffs because I was feeling some kinda way but I chose to not have those extra 2g of fat cause' we all know at least one guy who woke up with an extra 3% BF after eating coco puffs with slin), another 10iu Humalog
nFOFe19.jpeg

There is almost 0 variety on my slin days; fat free eating is hella boring, lol. Almost worse than dieting.

Training update, legs B

Leg press x4
Leg extension x2

SLDL x3
Lying leg curl x3

Couldn't do calves today

ALL SUPERSET TOGETHER
Machine side laterals x6
Peck deck rear delt flies x6
Seated cable shrug x6

Cable crunch x2
Leg raises x2

30 minutes of Z2/3

giphy.gif

So watery, damn it.

Today's session wasn't the best. I don't know what happened, I was WEAKER ON ALL LIFTS, pump wasn't as good (was still insane, just not as good), and I felt kind of "2D". Maybe because I upped my Reta dose? or maybe because I injected Humalog in my belly instead of thigh? Beats me, but this is a good experience regardless. Slin isn't magic, you still have not so amazing workouts.

In fact, it almost reminds me of that feeling when you haven't been eating enough, but I'm hoping this isn't it, haha.

I had to skip calves today because during my last leg session I did something to my ankle doing raises and now I'm limbing; will prob start BPC-157 tonigt.

Oh yes, another Ivabradine update

Still taking 5mg x2 a day, HR finally broke into the high 60s during sleep which makes me very happy (officially down 20 BPM, on average). That said, it does have a mild effect on exercise, but nothing like Nebivolol even at 1.25mg. I do not feel weakness in my limbs, or general fatigue on this drug, everything is so clean and natural, and if I push my heart and ask it for more, it can give me more.

Watching BP closely as well since dropping Nebi, it's currently at 125/75.

Light update, 23/24/04/2025
Body weight 78.66 on the 23rd, 78.85 today.

Wa60ZCY.jpeg

I had an INSANE upper body workout on Wednesday; crazy pumps, and PRd on EVERY SINGLE LIFT that day, and on top of that I gave someone advice (they asked for it) and they said "well man, I believe whatever you say cause' you obviously know what you're doing", made my heart tingle a little.

Lines are getting blurred, but I feel it's just water covering up everything (8kgs of it, almost), I do not feel that I have gained any bodyfat so far.

Some fun yesterday

You guys notice anything weird with my belly button? It's slightly "saggy"but one of my buddies said it could be a hernia (I feel 0 pain when touching it or when exercising, but it's definitely not "tight"), and now I'm freaking out about having to do surgery and taking time off, fuck.

I had this for my second post-workout yesterday. Around 5g of fat in this entire thing (chicken breast, two burger buns at 1g fat each, pomegranate molasses and a ketchup drip), around a 100g carbs and 70g protein, 825 calories

YNtVQGM.jpeg

And the rest of those sweet apple pancakes from yesterday for my pre, with 10iu humalog
MPxsXXI.jpeg

Insulin update
I've been settling on 105/110 BG after my workouts, 3 hours post Humalog, which makes perfect sense considering I'm having 50g of carbs intra, but I'm thinking of trying 11ius of Humalog next, see how that feels. I'm fairly comfortable with 10 right now (no longer need to check BG).

I also pre-loaded my HGH and BPC-157 for the next week (I always do this, can't be bothered to draw every day), 10iu HGH pins and 1mg BPC-157 per pen. Both Lobster's.
5RUnb5H.jpeg

My SSA order looks like it's about to hit soon, too (and they offered to reship a lost package for free, which is nice)

OFF TOPIC
Any gamers in here? Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just released and I'm loving this game so far, highly recommended if you're a fan of turn based combat like I am.

Today's update
Just cardio; today's an off day. I did get another new pair of Asics though (GT-2000 13), I'll try them out and maybe post em'later or tomorrow!

Looking solid man! I don't see any visible signs of umbilical hernia. Some guys have a "deeper" hole some a little flatter, my guessing is that it depends on how doctors tie your belly button when you were born. As soon as it doesn't stick out or hurt i think you're fine.
