if it's not reconstituted and still in powdered form, is it okay to store it at room temp for months/year

My understanding is that while it will degrade at room temp when in lyophilized form, it will last 1-2 months (but you dont know the degredation that has already taken place, since it was made) - but it is ideal to freeze it as it will last many months.

Yes. All lyophilized peptides contain moisture.
You can't see the difference between a batch containing .5% moisture and 4%. UGLs certainly don't have quality control or instruments in place to ensure it's the proper level.
4% will degrade 15x+ faster than .5%, the difference between weeks and a year until meaningful breakdown. Both will degrade more slowly the lower the storage temp. So that's the safest way to minimize degradation.

For long term storage, you want to be freezing at -20C to -80C. This will give the most stability. You also don't want to be using a freezer with a defrost cycle. This should give you a reasonably stable storage out to 3 years, after that... My bet is it will be fine for a few more years if anyone wants to run the tests.
You can ship fine but there may be a small amount of degradation. I would be willing to bet most sources and manufacturers aren't freezing or refrigerating after manufacture and its sitting around months with minimal degradation.

I hope people test their stuff if they are doing long term storage.

my point is, there are people who buy 5+ years worth of peptides. Then they never test their peptide is what it is lol.
