Indian Ivermectin saved my fam during the Rona Wars.

Ivermectin is given annually to millions of people to protect them against parasites in regions where it's a problem. From infants to 80 year olds, without side effects or harm to health. Literally a safer track record than Tylenol.

What's really interesting is that it lowers all cause mortality in those populations. Lower rates of every type of disease, including cancer.

The leading theory is that many people have parasites that go undetected because of a lack of noticeable symptoms.

By clearing them out with Ivermectin, the immune system is freed up to deal with other problems. So that's likely why there's no direct effect found on Covid, but that some people seemed to have dramatic recoveries after getting Ivermectin.

Before all the politics turned it into "horse dewormer", the UN and medical associations recognized Ivermectin as one of the most significant life saving medical discoveries of all time. Right up there with antibiotics.

Busy morning. Fyi. Thanks to those folks helping to make this happen.

What dosages do you take?

We took that stuff compulsorily as kids and into adulthood. Results in the 3rd world do not correlate with first world experience of Ivermectin. No one is getting elephantiasis or riverblindness as much, but they dying of cancer.

That is why the science is a toss-up.

The safety profile is virtually unsurpassed, and given the prevalence of potential parasitic infections (sushi, for instance, or being passed from pests) it seems like an annual prophylactic dose is cheap insurance. (and common for travelers).

When you dig into it. the only argument against it, similar to antibiotic overuse, is the potential creation of ivermectin resistant parasites and the loss of this valuable treatment.

But that's a population level concern, at the expense of the individual.

For general preventative and anti-parasitic use it's .2mg/kg, once a year. So 20mg for 100kg person.

For clearing demodex, a skin parasite present on most adults, it's .2mg/kg once a week for 8 weeks,

Recently identified as a cause of rosacea (the live in pores and are inflammatory when they die and release waste). Eliminating them evens out skin tone for many people.

It's available as a topical from dermatologists, but oral is much more effective

I personally know people that almost died during a community health posting. Turns out that if you have certain genetic variations, It can enter the brain and cause neurotoxicity. Like I said, first world experience varies.
I am not from the first world. I went to boarding school in a riverblindness endemic area. Some people would have headaches and mobility issues during PE classes. It was attributed to malaria. Many years later, it turns out that due to genetic polymorphisms, it ends up in the brain..

A few side effects still outweighs the consequences of unchecked parasitic infections though.

That is still the case. The issue that the medical community has with Ivermectin was never that it was unsafe- rather, it was that the podcast bros and chiropractors playing doctor on social media didnt understand the difference here, and were actively claiming that it directly cured the virus.

And medical establishment experts on the topic were (and are) reluctant to acknowledge that many people in the US carry sub-clinical parasitic infestations, some for 40 years, that only manifest visible symptoms when some condition weakens their immune system.

The only argument against using ivermectin to proactively "de load" your body of the potential presence of parasites on a regular basis is not safety of Ivermectin, or what's best for the individual, but "for the good of the population overall".

By playing along with the disinformation about Ivermectin risks, portraying it as an animal only medication, and supposed lack of useful purpose, they robbed individuals of the agency to decide for themselves

"Lying to them for their own good".
