New here, 51 & been putting in work

Hello all, good to see a forum for like minded individuals with health concerns in mind. I have been in and out of the gym since I was in junior high. Really only been strictly dedicated to lifting a handful of times throughout my life. I have undergone shoulder surgery for both left and right. Left shoulder was after a nasty fall down our spiral staircase about 7 years ago. Three years ago I broke both the fibula and tibia in my leg. All that to say I am healed (for the most part) and at 51 I have been dedicated to the gym for over a year now (natty). Started out with very little strength and never thought I’d even hit 175lb on bench again. Two weeks ago after putting in the work for so long I benched 230lb and should have added another 5lb. Just recently had test levels checked and was at 468. Doctors said she would like it to be more as if I was in my twenties at 900 or 1000 she wanted to get free test up as well. I’ve been on 200 of testosterone cyp a week for about four weeks now. It’s still all new to me but I actually look forward to my shot on Monday and Thursday. Looking forward to learning more about the process and continuing to increase strength and muscle mass. Seems like a lot of knowledge with the members here that could help this “old” guy…

Ouch. Glad you're healing. Shoulders are brutal but tib/fib is fucking nasty.

Welcome to meso.

yep, tin/fib was a bitch. Nasty spiral break and small pencil size end poking through skin about an inch. First and last time I‘ll be skim boarding on the beach with my boys…lol

Who is this doctor and how can I dedicate my life to her in a way that fulfills both of our desires but mostly mine?

You lucked out dude.
Yes very lucky, the VA said I was “normal “ with testosterone for my age. I went to a local health clinic that specializes in hormone therapy and other cosmetic treatments for skin. She was a great help and advocate for aging adults to look and feel their best.

lol.. I don’t know what else to call it. I’m just glad she put me on TRT. Yes, I did go through a long period of depression and military related PTSD. Spent several years smoking weed basically everyday. I needed a change. Lifting weights helps to ground me. I plan to give test cyp some time then hopefully add in anavar or possibly primo. Still learning, I always wanted to try a cycle but have never been able to get a hold of anything. Until then just continue to get diet needs, protein and creatine while hitting workouts hard.

Clinics are stores. They will sell to anyone. Not saying that's bad. It's great that it was easily accessible to you.

This is probably a common thing shared between everyone here

Don't plan to use drugs. plan to progress your training. Maximize every aspect of your training, follow the perfect food plan, get tons of sleep. If after all of that your training stalls, and adding more food doesn't change it, consider maybe raising your test a little bit.

Drug use isn't a goal. It's a tool to implement, only when warranted.

If you aren't going to be a competitive bodybuilder, then ask your self why would I take competitive bodybuilding risks. If your goals and your training simply don't warrant it.. don't touch it.

Until then just continue to get diet needs, protein and creatine while hitting workouts hard.

Maximize these things. You have to have training food and sleep perfected on gear or off That never changes.

Maybe look into HGH. HGH + Test can do a lot dude. It may also benefit some things for you after the injuries you've had.

Whatever you do, at 51, do high quality bloodwork for yourself, often. Don't let BP get above 120/70, if it already is, fix it. Don't let your lipids get elevated. If they already are, fix them. At 51, now might be a good time to get an elective calcium score test. Search for providers in your city. They are usually about $50.

Thanks for the advice, good stuff!!! Yeah, that’s my plan currently with nutrition, sleep and bloodwork. The clinic tests blood for most items to check for adverse effects on test. I use the LoseIt app to track food intake and macros. Blood pressure is in check. I take Prazosin for PTSD related nightmares, which was originally prescribed as a blood pressure medication. Cholesterol levels are good. Still learning all the blood work items. I fully agree not to take anything not needed. I was completely natural for almost a year putting in work at gym. Now on test c and will gladly take any extra benefits it provides. Not ready to rush into anything else at the moment. But at some point willingly to add once I stall out. Thanks for the tip on GH. I will definitely research in the future. Again, thanks for the advice and keeping me safe!
