In all harm reduction seriousness, spend $20 and 15 minutes to get your HS-CRP tested.

If it’s under 1, you’re ok and not causing oxidative damage to your cardiovascular system. If it’s much higher, (I’ve had bad oil send it over 3), reconsider what you’re doing.

Make sure it’s HS-crp (high sensitivity)
Do You have to sign up and pay dr fees?

You don't need to get membership.
They have a membership and non membership price.

You could however get the membership, buy 6 months worth of labs, and cancel the membership if that's your thing.

Goodlabs $21 vs $23 at DrSays (without membership, member price a little lower).

Tell you what though, for $3.33 / month for unlimited $25 video visits with prescription writing, that’s a steal for telemedicine.

And if you have the doctor order tests during your visit, they’re covered by insurance.

Those are great prices. I wish we had a lapcorp. Only Quest. Any other suggestions for bloodwork?

Beyond the basics that you might not think of and that your doctor isn’t likely up to speed on yet?

Lipoprotein A (this is the multiplier for all other cardiovascular risk, if it’s high, you should treat all other CV markers (LDL, ApoB, Triglycerides etc) as worse than the number would normally indicate, if Lp(A) is very low, a “high” risk marker is less dangerous than the number would normally indicate).

CoQ10 (deficiency impairs mitochondria and muscle function. The underlying cause of muscle side effects many older statins induce. A lot of people are unknowingly deficient because they don’t convert the inactive form to active, either via genetics or just worsens with age in almost everyone, easy to correct with ubiquonol)

And the aforementioned HS-CRP, a general inflammation marker. Many potential causes, but among the most serious effects is damaging artery lining (endothelium), allowing cholesterol to easily enter the arterial wall forming plaque, joint damage, cognitive “brain fog”. If you inject an oxidized oil, that “signal” gets to the liver, which thinks the presence of oxidized particles means you’re fighting off an infection somewhere, so it produces C-reactive protein, tiny factories that make reactive oxygen. which floods your body and starts oxidizing things you don’t want oxidized, which leads to more CRP being produced….and a vicious, tissue destroying cycle is set up. It also causes pimples to form under plaque, making chunks prone to breaking off, triggering heart attacks and strokes. Inflammation is the #2 main factor for triggering cardiac events.
