Just wondering how bad a cycle will be for a fit guy at 52 to run a cycle? I am 6', 190 and around 10-12%(top two rows of abs clear and defined and third row visible). I squat 315 for 7 last week and bench 255 for 9 last week. HRV avg is 56, Vo2 46, RHR 48.
Looking for a good 10 pounds that I can keep so I figure I need 20-25 pounds before PCT(natural test was 730 a few months ago). Nothing crazy...

Age isn't the worry. Let your bloodwork tell you how bad it would be. You are overweight right now to start.... lose the weight first. Get comprehensive bloodwork. Have you had a calcium score or any cardiac imaging? If not, do that. What did your most recent lipid panel look like? Whats your blood pressure?

This is no where close to 12%. It is 20+

These mean nothing. Blood work. Not smart watch guesses.

You have probably 20 pounds to lose first. Optimize for that.

so I figure I need 20-25 pounds before PCT
This demonstrates that you have a long way to go and lots to learn before a cycle should be in the picture. I'm not knocking you- there is nothing wrong with having to learn more. But that statement is a glaring sign that there is lots of work to be done.

why mess that up?

Lose the weight, then make an absolutely amazing food plan for growth, and hit it hard. You aren't optimized right now. Adding a cycle now would be like putting a wing on a honda civic thinking it will make it faster. (I tell that to everyone I love).

Become a race car before you start using racing fuel.

Tried to let the thread die, but this response seems way off with crazy assumptions.
Bloodwork, lipids, BP, diet in check. Just want more. I am not a rookie as far as fitness.

Here is my 20% bf... This pic is about 6 months old.

I actually just came off my first cycle. Didn't know if it was smart or not, but it happened, so nothing I can do about it. Did 400 test with a short run of var as well. Bumped to 500 for the last month.

I am thinking about doing another run this coming year, just wanted to make sure I was going to be smart about it. Will probably do around 300, but extend it for about 4-6 months. If all goes well, I will get what I want and then just go to maintaining...

Here is the results of the first run. This is about 2/3's of the way through my run. BF is up a little.
