IM needle sizes and common practices

I tried to research some across the forums and saw a few posts that touched on this but I wanted a more direct opinion/poll from the guys/gals here.

I started on TRT and am slowly dabbling into more gear. I learned how to pin from my TRT clinic and I use IM injections with a 25 gauge 1” needle. My boy was in town visiting and needed to borrow some test so I set him up with my stuff to make sure he hit his dose while he was in town and looked at my needle apprehensively lol. He only uses a 29 gauge 1/2” needle.

I was under the impression that size was only for SubQ not IM. Then I started researching more about the effects of a larger needle and developing scar tissue over time from frequent pinning. Right now I only rotate between my left and right delts so I will add other sites into the rotation, but I guess my question is what gauge and length needle are you guys using to pin IM? Is there a universal standard that the community enjoys to limit the footprint when pinning to prevent eventual scar tissue down the road or am I just looking into this too much?

Thanks in advance.

It’s all about the length of the needle, mostly use 13mm you do not get in IM tissue.(depends on what spot and how lean you are)

TRT in ventroglute Subq is a good choice btw.

25 gauge 1" for everything. Lets you use 3ml barrel easier. Right now I inject vastus lateralis, rec fem, and ventro glute. I inject MWF so every site gets 2 weeks rest.

The most important thing is the quality of the needle. The $5 pack of 100 chinese needles on Amazon are going to be way more painful and cause more scar tissue than a high quality one.
I’ve had zero issues with those $7 100 packs of needles on Amazon. Funny enough, the worst needles I’ve ever tried were Walgreens 31g 5/16 needle. Those things bent so easily and had so many spurs…

Thinner needles have a much higher chance of breaking and bending
(unless you spend alot for surgical grade stuff, then you can get some really strong 34gs)
Absolutely! My point was just that those needles sucked when I’d expect them to be better. I use Easy Touch, same size, for my daily GH and peptides. I find them to be great quality for the price.

I think people put too much thought into this. As long as the oil gets into the muscle it doesn't matter what size needle got it in there. If you're worried about scar tissue use a higher gauge needle.

Can't go wrong with 25g 1in. Yes you can use smaller needles, but 25g is already essentially painless and scar tissue is non-issue if your giving the site at least a week. Its not like you pin the exact same spot either....

Come back in ten years and you'll be telling a different story.

that obviously makes perfect sense, and the chances are so low, but i swear ive hit an exact spot at least ten times

granted im doing up to 4 unique injections per day. but still i feel i need to make a conscious effort to avoid hitting the same spot
