IM needle sizes and common practices

I tried to research some across the forums and saw a few posts that touched on this but I wanted a more direct opinion/poll from the guys/gals here.

I started on TRT and am slowly dabbling into more gear. I learned how to pin from my TRT clinic and I use IM injections with a 25 gauge 1” needle. My boy was in town visiting and needed to borrow some test so I set him up with my stuff to make sure he hit his dose while he was in town and looked at my needle apprehensively lol. He only uses a 29 gauge 1/2” needle.

I was under the impression that size was only for SubQ not IM. Then I started researching more about the effects of a larger needle and developing scar tissue over time from frequent pinning. Right now I only rotate between my left and right delts so I will add other sites into the rotation, but I guess my question is what gauge and length needle are you guys using to pin IM? Is there a universal standard that the community enjoys to limit the footprint when pinning to prevent eventual scar tissue down the road or am I just looking into this too much?

Thanks in advance.

It’s all about the length of the needle, mostly use 13mm you do not get in IM tissue.(depends on what spot and how lean you are)

TRT in ventroglute Subq is a good choice btw.

25 gauge 1" for everything. Lets you use 3ml barrel easier. Right now I inject vastus lateralis, rec fem, and ventro glute. I inject MWF so every site gets 2 weeks rest.

The most important thing is the quality of the needle. The $5 pack of 100 chinese needles on Amazon are going to be way more painful and cause more scar tissue than a high quality one.
I’ve had zero issues with those $7 100 packs of needles on Amazon. Funny enough, the worst needles I’ve ever tried were Walgreens 31g 5/16 needle. Those things bent so easily and had so many spurs…

Thinner needles have a much higher chance of breaking and bending
(unless you spend alot for surgical grade stuff, then you can get some really strong 34gs)
Absolutely! My point was just that those needles sucked when I’d expect them to be better. I use Easy Touch, same size, for my daily GH and peptides. I find them to be great quality for the price.

I think people put too much thought into this. As long as the oil gets into the muscle it doesn't matter what size needle got it in there. If you're worried about scar tissue use a higher gauge needle.

Can't go wrong with 25g 1in. Yes you can use smaller needles, but 25g is already essentially painless and scar tissue is non-issue if your giving the site at least a week. Its not like you pin the exact same spot either....

that obviously makes perfect sense, and the chances are so low, but i swear ive hit an exact spot at least ten times

granted im doing up to 4 unique injections per day. but still i feel i need to make a conscious effort to avoid hitting the same spot

Question- if I had to pin 14ml of oil weekly 1-2 daily injections how would you rotate injection sites (I’ve been avoiding the quads) I stared using 27g 5/8 recently but I always think it’s still to shallow for volume I’m used to 25g 1 in

thats gotta be a typo. 14 ml?

no typo couple compounds it comes out to around that amount of oil I just want ur opinion if you had that situation
oh. well i do pecs, delts, rear delts, lats, vg, and quads (VL only)

the largest volume ive ever injected was 1ml of pharmaceutical testosterone enanthate. i put it in my lats, they seem to handle larger volumes well.

sorry im not super experienced with all this, i think someone else will be better able to answer your question. sorry for burying your question with my assumption

its been well over a decade for me injecting oils, but as I recall we would limit things to around 3ml per site a week, so not to hard to split that up just using glues, quads, and delts. I dont know if anything has changed around that idea of limiting to 3ml per site a week these days though. lots of new info out there these days, and thats something i have not looked into as of yet.

Thanks for the tip about thin wall needles, never heard of them until now.

Unfortunately I have about a thousand 27g 18mm needles, a thousand 27g 40mm and a thousand 30g 13mm needles from good brands I got on sale. I'll be competing at the Olympia by the time they're finished.

I use 27g 40mm for glutes and lats. 27g 18mm for chest and delts. My weekly rotation is
1 left glute
2 right glute
3 left lat
4 right lat
5 half volume left half right chest
6 half volume side delt half volume rear delt, right delt
7 as above left delt

I have this because it fits my training schedule and adapt it as demanded. I avoid pinning a muscle that will get trained because very hard training will squeeze even GSO out and I get this bad PIP/soreness on a large surface area, and also because pinning it decreases performance.

For HGH, HCG, glutathione and the occasional peptide I use the 30g needle. I used to brew in MCT oil for a short while, then in pure EO, and used 29-31g for these oils but once I started using primobolan the PIP became unbearable, so I switched to GSO, and that is too thick to push through even when heating the syringe, I find the pressure I have to apply causes more tissue damage than using a 27g.

By the way does anyone know if there is any kind of device to help push the plunger?
