Janz or Hans, would you please describe in simple terms what value these labs have for individual users and what services the labs offer. For instance, does the lab work directly with clients or must we go thru one of their providers? Many on this forum know about and use the labs that Dr. John, for instance, would use for hormonal assessment. Genova labs or combination of assays drill down much further. What are the costs? Feel free to bring in reps from the company as discussants. Actually, if you know them, invite them. Genova labs keep coming up and I'd just like to bring the topics or information front and center for the forum. There are perhaps other labs doing the same and I don't want to appear that I am favoring anyone. So this is not a personal endorsement. You guys however are free to endorse.

There is many tests that one can have at Genova Diagnostics.
Some/many of them are usefull to diagnose seriuos health problems.

One do not have to be otwardly sick to benefit from tests.
Assuming that person is a healthy athlete that is looking for an edge,
or just any average person wondering why he pops pills with only general justification.
NutrEval test will tell you exactly what you need,

Atm I do not know the cost of NutrEval test.
I should know about cost soon.
Three weeks ago my doc send my samples for NutrEval testing.
It takes over three weeks to get results, probably longer to get bill.
Yes, one need to see a doc or other health practitioner who have acount with Genova Diagnostics.

they will reply with a list of practitioners in the area.

Do we have any independent proof that their findings are correct AND useful?

Assuming that the findings are accurate--which is itself something I'd like to see independent proof of-- is there any proof that "correcting" listed deficiencies is beneficial?

In other words, how do we know that what Genova et al is saying is truly useful and it's recommendations once followed make a real and substantive difference? This is what has always puzzle me--how leading Drs like Shippen & Crisler, etc say little or nothing about this. Hmmm.....

Yes and no.

Vit D testing is not a part of NutrEval,
but
it is offered as an additional option while ordering NutrEval.

I suspect that this and other of their tests are undergoing constant revisions and (hopefully) improvements.

There was short presentaion on Fox channel about 2 monts ago.
From the discussion I concluded that they plan to combine NutrEval with some of their genomic tests.


NutrEval is rather new test.
Not long ago they changed urine sample requirements.
It used to be 24hr urine,
now it is first morning void(FMV).

I am surprised that you say that?
My impression was that HAN prefer Spectracell.

I do not have as good grasp of nutritional interactions as HAN have.
Mainly for that reason I prefer Genova Diagnostics.
They explain everything at least the basic levels, there is no need for (basic) interpretations.
HAN always takes the subject one or couple levels higher.

The other reason I like Genova is because of their international presence.
Most of the guys are outside of USA.
Our beautiful tests, say at Quest Diagnostics are of little help for those people.

Still another reason, until their recent change to their web site, tons of research materials was available from their web site. Unfortunate they closed that part.

Spectracel have hardly any educational material posted.
Quest at least posted their EndoManual.

this may seem like the tail waging the dog, but my own interest is sparked by what seems to be several recent reports on the need to maintain D3 levels for cancer and other things. As for the worth of the labs, I assume that the values obtained are valid for the time frame they are taken. Genova lists the lab certifications that they have attained. And they list the credentials of the professionals oversee the service. Most of us do not rotate our foods radically over time. So I assume that the value of what is measured is consistent with what we eat, what we produce, and how we typically metabolize. If I recall, Janz and Hans have both posted how their supplementation or medicaton changes have been reflected in changes in lab values.
