Phil was a guest poser at a show I went to a while back and when he stepped on stage I could not believe my eyes. He looked so huge it was amazing.
There was a time when Phil Heath first turned pro that he didn't look particularly impressive in the off-season. I know it's hard to believe but he didn't even look particularly big for an amateur bodybuilder except for his unusually large but soft arms.
While I have absolutely no insight or knowledge of Phil's "supplement" regimen, he looked like he was completely off everything for several months (perhaps even off training too).
He kinda of reminded me of Kevin Levrone in the offseason. For those familiar with Levrone, he was a pro bodybuilder half the year and a musician who didn't even lift weights during the other half of the year. He was the master of transformations.
I think the pro scene has all but abandoned the "off" during the offseason.

and while were on the topic of cycling. or am i.
being on year round seems "wrong". misguided. if you can step it up when needed. alright. but to be constantly on guard seem, desperate. and im not without insecurities. hope im not alone.
but cycling in general seems beneficicial. feast or famine. ying or yang. in or out. black or white. neither here nor there. in or out . or. in and out. in and out. and so continues. what . sometimes the news makes me sick.
Only quitters go off...
um, yeah. off is for guys not interested in trt. not this early. and it doesnt sound that great. and i dont want to depend on someone else for something i should produce naturally. there are limits to the body. and structurally you can only lift so much. and lifting just for massive muscle size. why so many massive muscle tears. tearing muscles off the bone isnt impressive. and seems to be a new pheomenon. and uncontrolled growth is called cancer.
it just seems a little more natural. on. off. night. day. asleep. awake. summer. winter. in most sports there is the off season. and steriod use has whats called post cycle therapy. or your just always on. well. all least your not quitter.
im focusing on nutrition. some supplementation. because some are worthwhile. maybe the occasional on. short cycles. and fuctional bodybuilding. somewhere inbetween.
and my off is a little different. because while im sure itll always reamain that, i am an asterisk. its time to get back to overall excellent human performace. im not interested in size for size sake.
