When did shoulders being larger than pecs become in?

It's ridiculous to see the pros these days with shoulders so large that they are bigger than their pecs. Am I alone in this view??

much of this is because of extreme drug abuse and scar tissue, making the delts appear to be bigger than they really are

I love bodybuilding. But the size of back delts and legs are really not pleasing to me. Size yes, but extreme size in these areas seems to be required now?!?!

What's wrong with big legs as long as symmetrical and proportional? Of course, it seems calves often lag in many bb'ers with highly-developed wheels

I see a bigger problem with abdomens that stick out 3 inches past one's chest. Sorry, but you can't look 'good' after running 30 units/day of GH year around for a decade.

Ever since synthol and aggressive HGH usage became the norm in professional bodybuilding the sport went to shit IMO. Cutler and Coleman might be bigger than Arnold and Zane but they'll certainly never look as good.

You're forgetting Slin. That's what REALLY makes for distended guts.

To this day Tom Platz is one of my favorite bodybuilders. I always said that his upper body was not underdeveloped but other bodybuilders legs were just way underdeveloped.

Sometime on leg days if i'm real tired I'll push the workout back a day so that I can give those little fuckers the justice they deserve. No sythnol here, just hard work and a little test.

Damn Arnie is SOOOO proportional!

Most of the more contemporary BB are so focused on size and definition that a proportional build has seemingly become an illegitimate step child.

BBs whom focus on building muscle in this manner develop a more animalistic (huge thighs and chest with much smaller hamstrings, calves and forearms) rather than human form.

The former has become a MAJOR detractor for those viewing the sport from the outside in. The point, there is much more to BB than just "building muscle".

Finally the use of injectable synthetic non-absorptive compounds, used as an aid to enhance size, shape or symmetry in ANY manner, should be banned from the sport immediately, IMO!

Animalistic is an appropriate description for the modern BB physique, IMO. In the golden era, the top BB's were big but still retained an athletic appearance. Whatever the modern look is, it's certainly not athletic.

I agree 100%. SEO enhanced bodyparts are phony and no different than getting surgical implants. The use of SEO's is rampant at all levels of BB and it's use is based on bro lore of the highest caliber (facia stretching to make room for new muscle growth) in order to disguise the fact that SEO's are no different than implants - although, their damaging effects on muscle tissue make them worse from a health perspective, IMO. Incidentally, I see one of the popular brands of synthol now has silica in it. SILICA!
