Best way for tri's to grow

Seems like I'm stuck on tri's I'm doing skull crushers, pull downs, wat ever the rope is called, and sometimes close grip presses, but lately I'm not getting any growth at all, any suggestions on stimulating them again

Yea, weighted dips are good. You've got to go all the way down to really hit the tri's,

I could be wrong about this but going all the way down isn't good for your shoulder joint. Puts to much pressure on it

So I hear maybe someone else can chime in

Maybe so but heavy skull crushers aren't exactly good for the elbows either. If triceps are stuck you have to push it a little IMO.

Yea, a lot of strain on the shoulder. You have to start without weights and work your way lower, warm up, keep your body as vertical as you can, don't lean over so much.

how low to go to hit the tris hard without putting to much pressure on the shoulder?

I've always gone a little further than 90 degrees
Nothing to back it up just feels right

Yea, a little more than 90 degrees seems right, especially if your using heavier weights, you really start straining the shoulders after that. I'm no trainer, but I love dips. With just body weight or lighter weights I'll go all the way down, but it's when you keep your back as vertical as you can that it really starts working the tri's. I had shoulder pain when I first started that would wake me up at night, but after a while no problems. You got to be careful with your shoulders, you can really screw them up.

I always go all the way down, I dont think they are any good if you don't. Some say dips bother their shoulder, I've been doing them for years, all the way down and it's never hurt my shoulder. They are one of my favorite exercises. If they bother your shoulder you probably shouldn't do them though, or try doing them slowly and not bouncing.

Def start without weights, If you have never done them you wont be able to go all the way down at first he's right. They are alot harder than they look. Some people can't even do them.

Narrow dip bars hit the triceps better , I have 3 sets of bars and the 19" C2C are the best for tri burns with the 24" bars better for lower pecs . I"ve been doing dips for 30 years, lol. :D

Nobody's mentioned reverse grip bp so Ill throw that in as an excellent compound for growth. I like it better than close grip, and it's easier on the shoulders than tricep dip.

My arms have always responded to lighter weight that was made to feel heavy for 8-12 reps. 12 reps for the first set, keeping the same weight, letting fatigue reduce my rep count. For example push downs can be done leaning over the bar in a ballistic motion or they can be done in a controlled fashion squeezing the muscle thru the motion and holding the contraction at the bottom for a split second. And yes my arms are big.:D

I've never understood why people do skull crushers, they are literally a lying triceps extension with half ROM. Why not do the lying triceps extension instead? It's one of the best triceps exercises.
