Bad form....EVERYWHERE!

I'm not the most muscular dude but I've been lifting hard for 2 years and I'm 6'5" and 270lbs and certainly not a little dude.

Yesterday, I took some time away from my head space I get into at the gym to observe the people around me. Now I'm on a lower weight, perfect form with a squeeze at the top and long negative kick.....

First up I'm doing DB presses with 85lb DB - nothing huge but I my chest is weak and my right shoulder acts up so I tend to go lighter weight and higher rep. I do 16, 14, then 12 reps. Guy pulls up next to me - he's about 5'9" and maybe 170lbs and looks like he hasn't been in the gym....ever. He grabs 110lb DB, rocks backwards onto his back and proceeds to do TWO of the ugliest presses ever seen in a gym. He throws the DB just before they ripped his arms off and he got up looking "pumped" and let out an enthusiastic "Yeah, baby". Looks over at me like what's your problem pussy....lol

Next is an 80+ year old man who really is in good shape for his age. He is at the gym more than I am but with EVERY single lift I've ever seen him do his range of motion is about 15% of what it should be. This guy does curls and moves the weight up and down 3". The first time I saw him I assumed he was nursing an injury with that body part but it's clear it's every exercise he does. I see A LOT of older folks and women whose ROM is ½ what it should be.

Next biceps. I do DB curls first and then use the curl machine second. I'll put 2 45lb plates on the curl machine and again do nice controlled curls with long negatives. This 5'4" 125lbs asian kid comes up after i'm done and adds TWO MORE 45lbs plates - I don't think I could do ONE rep at that weight. He then positions his body half standing/half sitting cranks out FOUR reps at probably 75% maximal ROM. This little fucker has probably added 15lbs of muscle in the last week.

Last was a pretty hot 30 something year old woman who was using the machine that allows you to do assisted dips/pull ups to not do dips or pulls ups but she was taking each leg and pushing down on foot bar that does the assisting for reps.

I can only imagine what trainers see day in and day out.....lol

There's a pasty white kid that regularly loads up about 600lbs of plates on the incline leg press at my gym, and then pushes the plates up and down about 3" never even unlocking the safety locks. Then he walks away with all his weights on the machine swaggering like he's a badass.

Hahah.. I think we go to the same gym. A kid did that shit a few weeks ago then an old lady started trying to take the plates off!! I went and got the kid and he did what he should've done to begin with. I'm a dick when it comes to that stuff in the gym, it just pisses me off!!

I bounce the weight to my chin when
Doing standing military presses..
Like a push with my legs,
So I save my shoulders...

Deadlifts from my knees...
Rack pulls I guess something like
Them, so I save my back...

I now put a shirt and sock
Wrapped around bar for bench so it
Hits my chest, and use a close grip
To keep my elbows from going
Out to sides and more toward my feet...
Again to save my shoulders...

I can also throw around hundred pound
Dumbbells, like they are twirling battons :-)
the only people I look at, in the gym, are girls
With tight apple shaped asses

See this is the shit I would have done. People say I am an asshole but that shit would have pissed me off too. LOL! Ballz wrecking shit at the gym! :D

Let me guess he was in his early 20's who thinks he is wrecking shit?

The thing with alot of guys is they are so new to working out that they just dont have the same muscle control as an experienced guy. All they know is that if they keep getting heavier in the weights they will grow. All they know is what they see, they dont realize that those photos in Flex magazine were taken when the guy was a week out from a competition and was holding the weights as props. I can attest to this myself, I have been in a bodybuilding magazine before. My photo on the leg press showed the thing loaded down with weights, but what you didn't see was the safety block basically catching the leg sled, all I did was bend my knees a little and put a strain on my face like I was busting ass, it was total bullshit. Fuck if I was lifting that shit a week out from a competition!!!

So anyways, that is all they see. And they are just so motivated to grow that they will try very heavy weights even despite loose form. I imagine I was the same way at one point

I think what gets on my nerves more is "Cooly G rapper guy" every gym has one. Its the guy who bops around dancing and rapping to himself like he is the hardest motherfucker to walk planet earth. Sometimes you also get the Cooly G rapper/shadowboxer combo. They are very entertaining to watch actually!!

I remember a kid that looked like a toothpick at my gym who would set up to squat with 225 and sit there for 30min before doing a set, thinking he is the shit. Then finally get under the bar an do a quarter squat.

I dont understand what your saying she did on the pull up machine, can you explain that a little better?

This is the only way I've ever seen anyone leg press in my gym.
I would suggest that they get more of a workout loading and unloading the plates but they don't bother to unload them so...

This shit happened to me the other day doing bench press.
The punk ass next to me did 1 half rep @225 and struggled get up and looks me up and downs then smirks like he is the shit. I only had 150 on the bar cause of a back injury and I'm not allowed heavy weights yet. It took everything not to choke the asshole

You left out some of my personal favorites: At the top of the list is Mr/Ms "the workout equipment is actually furniture". They sit there the whole time all wrapped up in their phone, between sets, and then when they start a set they text message at the same time.

Close to my store, there is an amazing gym, I love working out there, and you have never seen so many hot women in one place (the professional cheerleaders train there...and they are pretty much average at this place). Guys all train hard and properly. Except for this one guy. He comes in wearing his scrubs, so that everyone knows he is a doctor. He then does the text message thing ^. He never exerts himself one bit.

The problem is, this gym is in the richest neighborhood in Texas. Tons of oil and gas money. The average guy in that gym make more than a medical doctor.

The hotties are more impressed w/ a guy who trains hard.

My other pet peeve is sagging shorts. Pull up your pants, beyotch.

I sag my shorts about half way down my waist. Much more comfortable you should try it some time PC

But seriously Id rather sag alittle than walk around in short shorts:rolleyes:

Actually went to the gym with a coworker last week. First time in months I've been in one since I built a garage setup. Sit up from a heavy bench set, and there's an old guy on the peck deck across from me, and his massive fucking tool is hanging out the leg of his shorts onto the seat. I was instantly reminded why I built a garage gym.

There's always an old dude sitting naked putting ointment on his balls for a good 20-30 minutes everyday at my gym. The only thing that makes the gym bearable is that the local cheerleading teams have a training contract so they all work out there everyday.
