Millard: Here is the type of discussions a forum should have:

All I see is your post followed by one reply. That's hardly a discussion. Or perhaps no one questioning your "brilliance" is your idea of a discussion.
Read it, please. Then explain to me why that sort of discussion rapidly falls into oblivion, while childish fecal matter, like this thread goes on forever.?
Millard's already mentioned that threats aren't childish fecal matter. Regarding other threads, there is only so much discussion a topic warrants. Once the topic has been exhausted, it's normal for the thread to go OT. Often times, other topics that get raised in the original discussion lead to other interesting topics and discussions. Sometimes threads just devolve into nonsense. That happens everywhere, including real life discussions, not just Meso.
Go over to TID, and then compare the types of discussions there. They are substantive, members treat each other with respect. The goal is to help everyone improve. I don't know what the goal is here, besides winning petty arguments.
The goal at Meso is to arrive at the truth through vigorous debate and discussion. Sometimes things get heated but that's what you get with uncensored debates. Personally, I like that because it makes it interesting. The only winner in "petty debates" should be the truth. The truth is always the goal.
Is vigorous debate for everyone? No - not for those with delicate sensibilities and especially not for those who usually end up on the losing side. But, that's why there are other forums - forums that take the approach that everyone's opinion counts. Unfortunately, opinions don't necessarily mean the truth and that's why I prefer Meso's evidence based model.
What you're proposing is a heavily moderated forum - one that is able to protect you from insults by denying its member's freedom; one that is willing to protect the peace by denying the truth. IOW, a totalitarian model. To that I offer the following quote:
"
Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty." -- Thomas Jefferson
That is why MESO is universally regarded as joke. OK, I am done with this thread. I will pop in from time to time, unless you decide to ban me. I hope some people read my thread on how to train after steroids, and I will be happy to help them. If you were really interested in promoting substantive discussions you would make it a sticky. I would love to be part of that. But like I said that type of discussion is a foreign language here.
Who universally regards Meso as a joke? You for not getting the respect you "think" you deserve? Your employer who threatened Meso members and was run out of here? Whoever it is, it's a short list. Millard and Meso are highly respected everywhere in the community. People from all over the community know that when they come to Meso they're not going to be given bro science. Is Meso perfect? Of course not, but it's come as close to perfect as any board I've seen. And that is not my opinion, it's a fact.
