Mad Cow Desease

I eat lots of beef. I sure hope that this doesn't turn into a big mess. Hopefully its just this one cow that is infected. My guess is if they found one. They will find many more. Time to stock back up on cans of tuna and chicken. Man that crap gets old quick.

I just read last week that beef prices have gone up due to the new high demand. It said that the boost in demand is due to all the people now on the Atkins diet. Hopefully they got back all the infected beef. Otherwise we will have a bunch foaming at the mouth crazy fat ladies at WalMart beating the hell out of each other for the last bag of jerky.

Bro..rest easy. I worked in a slaughter plant for a while. MCD is only found in the brain and spinal cord. But surprise surprise..bet you didn't know the big slaughter houses are allowed to add both those to ground beef huh? So there's the problem. 1 cow (or said cow brain/spine) can get mixed into literally thousands of pounds of ground product. Then if they don't clean the equipment and produce another batch...more contamination. That's why the big scare...1 cow can effect a lot of finished product.

Solution? Only eat whole muscle parts (ie...steaks, roasts, etc...) and/or grind your own ground beef from said whole muscle parts.

Further...MKD is a semi-virus (a pryon...actually) that will not survive a high heat. So get your burgers well done...and be a lot safer too.

Hope this helps...

Hmmm.. and i was wondering what was wrong with my laptop, didn't know that computers could get MCD too..

Anyway, it's overhyped man, don't worry much about it. I know that OT won't be quitting his "beef-o-mania" anytime soon..

na

steak, steak , steak, steak and more steak. i never eat burger because of the mixture of meats and parts in it.

i also eat alot of deer meat, very very lean and high in protien, that shit is so lean that in deer burger you have to mix fat in with it just to cook it or it will fall apart.

This is the most overhyped BS I've probably ever heard, the media thinks they've got a story and man are they running with it. Do you know that it is not even proven that you can get mad cow from eating the infected parts, of course I'm not going to be the one that tries. Also it is not contagious from one animal to the next it comes from them eating bad feed. I'm sure that to make the public feel safer though they'll slaughter every cow in a 200 mile radius. Just goes to show the media is full of crap.

no offense too all you good american bros out there but the US goverment is so full of hypocricy. When Canada had one mad cow earlier in the year the US banned all beef from canada, and now that they have a mad cow and other countries are banning their beef they are totally downplaying it.

im luckey because i dont eat beef anyway. dont eat steak either, when your in school its tuna, oats, and olive oil. i dont really have cash for anything good.

Camel meat rocks, and it doesn't contain a lot of fat, only thing is, it taks a long time to cook, so i stick to beef. For liver, nothing beats camel's.

Grizz if you ever come to this part of the world, you'll know what the word "meat" means ;-) ..
