Rest/OFF Days - schedule

I've always wondered about pumping the blood into the muscle. Does that give gains? I'm not a power lifter either but I can't imagine building an armor like chest benching 185lbs on the bench. I could be wrong.

Push ups give great pumps and pumps a lot of blood into the muscle but it doesn't build giant pecs.

I'm 31 and I am concerned about my joint health. With that said I'm not all that strong. I'm 5'10" 175lbs low teens bf pressing 105-110 on dumbell presses, squatting 275 for reps and rack pulling 325. I guess I would consider myself not a beginner but in between intermediate and a beginner.

I notice I don't grow unless I'm pushing heavy weights for low reps.

I'm interested in learning more about pumping blood into muscles = gains.

I think for the best results you should use different rep ranges. I use low reps and high reps in my training. That way you get the benefit from lifting heavy to grow thicker and stronger and by pumping more blood into the muscle from higher reps. Best of both worlds.

I recently started doing that.

Starting tomorrow my routine will be

Mon push
Tues pull
Wed rest
Thursday leg
Friday rest
Sat repeat

Either that or I wanted to dry demondosage routine of hitting the full body until failure with 1 working set every 3 days. Sounded really interesting

If I do switch routines it will be to Millard or DD's routine. Right now I'm sticking to my push/pull, I really like it and I am making strength and size gains. The HST may be in my future and I am strongly considering it. I focus on progressive overload in my routine, but I also use high reps.

I've never done hst I'll have to read more into it and try it out in the future. I like the DD routine because it's based on 12 reps. My elbow and shoulders are hurting recently and I have over taxed my cns from lifting so heavy. Fuck it I'll do DD tomorrow! Lol!

Millard's routine is HST, it is a full body routine and kind of similar to DD's.

Decided to go with hst, will start today. This is great because my joints were in a bit of pain anyway :) so starting with 15 reps would be a great idea.

Try Dorian Yates Blood Sweat and Guts. That's what I have been using for the last year went from 163 to 195 and kept the BF % at 10%. It helps small guys keep all those calories we have to eat to gain any wieght at all.
