So thanks for the positive Whachammajiggy.....:)

I always enjoy your comments and ramblings! They mysteriously make a lot of sense to me. Thanks for the feedback.

Two studies that I am aware of did a side by side comparison of Tamoxifen and Arimidex for the treatment of male gynecomastia (there's probably more).
The drop out rate was ten times higher in the Tamoxifen group (22% vs 2%) and the post treatment mean breast volume, as measured by sonography, was reduced twenty percent more with Adex. The treatment lasted three months while dosing Adex at 1mg QD and Tamo at 20mg QD. In my opinion, based on the literature a controversy no longer exists.
Adex is the DOC for this condition because it's more effective with fewer side effects than Tamo.

Can you provide the cite(s) for the study(s) referred to in your post.

Also, in the head-to-head studies I am aware of (Male Breast Cancer - MBC), arimidex was inferior to tamoxifen. The following review from 2011 does not cite any head-to-head study except for MBC.

Johnson RE, Kermott CA, Murad MH. Gynecomastia - evaluation and current treatment options. Ther Clin Risk Manag 2011;7:145-8. Gynecomastia – evaluation and current treatment options
Gynecomastia – evaluation and current treatment options

CLINICAL QUESTION: What is the best management approach for gynecomastia?

RESULTS: In most patients, surgical correction usually leads to immediate cosmetic and symptomatic improvement and is considered the best approach. In men who are being treated with antiandrogen therapies, pharmacological intervention with tamoxifen is the most effective approach, followed by radiotherapy.

IMPLEMENTATION:
Pitfalls to avoid when treating gynecomastia
Failure to detect the very rare male breast cancer
Overly aggressive early intervention or evaluation
Appropriate medical intervention When to refer to specialist treatment.

Did you not receive my rebuttal to your query?

I am not sure what you mean. I have not received any rebuttal PM, if that is your meaning. If you are referring to my post for evidence on the head-to-head study, I replied regarding my opinion.
