Hey guys,

I just received my most recent blood work back from my Dr. and I really need any advice you guys might have on some of the causes of my problems. I am 21 yrs old and a little background is that I went to see a naturopathic doctor back in august 2011 for low energy/libido. He prescribed me:

HCG 1000 iu every 3rd day
naturethroid 1 grain ED
DHEA 25 mg ED
Vitamin D 10,000 iu ED
Adrenal Complex 3 pills ED
Arimidex 2 pills a wk

It's a heavy load and I was naive, dumb, and way to young to think twice about what I was putting into my body. I continued this regimen for about 3.5 months stopping at the end of November. Below are my labs from before I started to 6 months after stopping everything.

Auguest 2011
May 2012

testosterone, total 591 ng/dL (250-1100)
191

testosterone, free 141.3 pg/mL (35-155)
36.1

dihydrotestosterone 51 ng/dL (16-79 )
13

t3 free non-dialysis 2.9 pg/mL (2-4.8)
2.7

t3 reverse 26 ng/dL (11-32)
23

t4 5.5 ug/dL (4.5-12.5)
5.6

tsh 6.82 mU/L (.45-4.50)
4.72

fsh 3.0 mIU/mL (1.5-12.4)
1.6

lh 7.8 mIU/mL (1.7-8.6)
1.2

DHEA sulfate 446 ug/dL (280-640)
274

Estradiol N/A
17

Vitamin D 86.8 ng/mL (30.1-100)
29.3

Cortisol, free 1.93 mcg/dL
.71

My levels dropped off the charts after being off of all medication for 6 months. The truth is I shouldn't have needed anything in the first place but was convinced my Dr. knew what he was doing. Now I have low libido, can barely get out of bed, lost all muscle I gained in high school/college, put on alot of weight, and am very depressed. I didn't research what I was getting into and am now paying the price which I take full responsibility for. I don't know if it's desensitization to my testes or damage to my pituitary or hypothalamus but something is wrong. But before I give up all hope I wanted to see if anybody on this forum had any suggestions as to what steps I should take next. Feel free to PM, email me, or post on this thread. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I will be posting this same exact thread on thinksteroids.com just for more feedback for myself but wanted to add that so people don't think I'm putting this up on numerous websites because I know that annoys some people. Thanks guys.

A Naturopathic doctor is supposed to treat the patients illness with the most natural method buy addressing emotional and lifestyle changes instead of pharmaceutical therapies and surgery. However, they do at times have the right to prescribe certain drugs especially dealing with thyroid issues. Naturopathic physicians have the same prescribing rights as allopathic physicians, except for narcotics. Therefore, NDs are able to provide patients continuing prescriptions for current health conditions or illnesses. And I guess in Arizona, where I live, Naturopathic Doctors have the widest range of prescription rights. Unfortunately, I was convinced by my doctor that I needed the prescriptions he was offering. The one positive thing I can take from this is always to extensively research what your doctors recommend no matter how sure of themselves they seem. Sorry for the long reply but I hope I answered your question.

It varies by state....her in CT Naturopaths can't even Rx antibiotics.

Thanks for the correction. If only I lived in a different state this problem would never have happened! That is strange though how much authority they give to ND's in Arizona compared to other states...

This Dr had no clue what they where doing. They never tested half the thing they should have. Thyroid was off, but they never ck for hashimotos, ferritin or other useful parameters...

I agree. Unfortunately I had no idea about how complicated hormones can be at that time last year and put all my faith and trust into the Dr. because he seemed very enthusiastic about the treatment. I'd be lying if I said I didn't leave that office stoked that my mood would be uplifted and everything would be fine. I'm shocked after doing research at how ignorant I was at the time and that I would put half of that stuff in my body for NO reason. My free testosterone, lh, and dht were near the top of the charts and now they are at rock bottom. If anyone can recommend any and everything I should be tested for when I go see my Endocrinologist this Thursday that would be a great help.

A similar thing happened to me with my hormones. T and LH dropped to rck bottom but I think I know what did this. 'Chronic Masturbation'. It also caused insulin resistance. I then stopped wanking and now hormone levels have come back up and the insulin resistance reversed.

If chronic masturbation lead to type 2 diabetes, I would have been diabetic before finishing high school LOL

Have a good Dr look at your thyroid and adrenals then go from there. Tell you truth I have only met a few good ND in my passing. Any one can pass a test, but can they apply what they learn is a whole different matter? Its like a fat personal trainer telling me how to lift after they passed a NCSA exam. Give me a break....

How do you define chronic masturbation? Is 3 times a day even though you're not horny at all chronic?

Yep, That's way too much.

I was put on thyroxine which gave me a bit of a libido back so then I got addicted to watching porn online and ever since then I started jerking off and ejaculating around 4-5 times a day to online porn. sometimes even 10-12 wanks a day. I then got tested by endo and T and LH had dropped. I stopped doing it and they came back up.

You're crazy. How in the world can a person wank 10-12 times a day successfully? [:o)]
Did you even ejaculate real sperm on your 12th wank? When I jack off 3 times a day then I already have to work really hard and it's not fun at all and when I finally come it's totally liquid and there doesn't seem to be much in it.
Porn is also not satisfying at all. I also watched it a few times in the past weeks and it sucked. I felt totally stressed out, didn't even know what video to watch. It really wasn't worth it. Also seeing those bitches being nailed by giant cocks dragged me down further. I'd rather watch porn with small cocks. How does it help me when I see videos where every male seems to have a giant cock as if it was the most normal thing on earth to have a cock like a forearm?

Thanks for all the answers! I don't think it's chronic masturbation though... if anything I've been takin it easy from the lack of libido. I went to an endocrinologist this past Thursday but didn't get any answers and was told to wait another 6 months to see if I would return to baseline. He refused to do any tests besides prolactin and would not give me an MRI on my pituitary because of all the supplements I was taking back in December. This is very frustrating because the waiting game is not what I was looking for since my levels have been dropping for the past 6 months!

Your situation sounds a little complicated. I mean, you had these symptoms even with good total T and free T levels before you took those supplements. Your LH was slightly raised but not completely out of whack. Your thyroid looks sluggish. Elevated TSH and thyroid hormones towards the lower end of the range. What did your doctor have to say about this?

Complicated is a perfect description. As far as what my Dr. has said, it has varied throughout the year according to the results of my bloodwork. I was first put on hcg, arimidex, and naturethroid with my baseline levels last August and was told to follow up with blood tests every month. After the first month my total testosterone and free testosterone shot through the roof (about 2-3 times the normal range) while my TSH, T3, DHT, RT3, Estrogen,LH, and FSH were getting worse. At this point I was given cytomel on top of what I was already taking to help fix the problem. The next month, my blood tests came back with high total testosterone and free testosterone, but again my others levels had dropped even more and my energy level was taking a toll. I was then prescribed Adrenal complex and dhea to combat my energy crisis. The next month came with the same results with everything but my total testosterone and free testosterone taking a big hit. He told me to drop the naturethroid and just take cytomel twice a day instead. Then I made what I believe to be a huge mistake when I started to develop gyno from my high estrogen and low dht and used andractim for about 3 weeks. Then about late November, I started to get tremors, headaches, chest pains, and dizzy spells on a regular basis and asked my doctor if I could come off the medications. He told me to come off of everything except the hcg for the next month and then stop everything. Since, the end of December I have been off all meds and I am now worse than I have ever been. I'll agree that I was experiencing some low energy when I was at baseline but I would give anything to go back to that feeling since the difference between then and now is like night and day. Sorry for the long post I just thought you should know how this all went down and that I wasn't prescribed everything all at once.
