On another note since we're now talking about the legality of alcohol, it's the only drug that negatively affects EVERY major organ in the body. Sworder-guns don't kill people either but that doesn't mean they aren't dangerous.
Meth is great for every major organ in the body.
Yes, a gun cannot kill people on its own either.
Does the gun make it easier to kill somebody? Yes.
If I believe guns and knives are dangerous should I have my house riddled with shottys and machetes so they can be misused or get in the wrong hands? No.
There are mental health and background checks you have to do to acquire a firearm legally. The reason for that is because some people are not fit to own a gun.
In court, the guns used in a crime and put on the stand. Why is that? Because it is an item. Now you can blame the gun as much as you want but all you are doing is pushing blame around to objects. It's the fear of having to assume responsibility for what you do that makes people blame things on others, or on objects.
On a similar note, on an alcohol bottle there is the fine print "Drink responsibly" now that may seem like a generic sentence to put; but as with firearms, there are people whom are not fit to drink alcohol. If an insane person acquires a gun or an irresponsible drinker picks up a bottle. That is a conscious act of doing something they know or have an idea that it can cause problems. So who to blame again? The gun? The alcohol? Or the living person with an brain that is making decisions and choosing to pick up these "dangerous" objects?
It's pretty funny if you think about it. We humans engineered these guns and drugs with pretty sophisticated methods. After we created these objects or drugs, we perform actions and blame something of our own creation. Hell it seems like it would make more logical sense to some people to blame an object rather than somebody with a thinking brain.
This debate can cross over to "roid rage" as well, do steroids increase aggression? I definitely believe so even though it cannot be empirically measured. However, the person choosing to inject steroids is the one to blame for his actions.
Look at a vial, gun or a bottle of alcohol for a minute. They don't have psychokinetic powers like Robert the tire in Rubber. They cannot do anything on their own. Once we put vials, guns or alcohol bottles on the witness stand or take them in for questioning, only then will I start believing these objects can do something.
Everybody makes mistakes, own up and stop crying, bitching, moaning and blaming things on everything besides you! <- DedLift this is not directed towards you, just a general statement.
