2017 training log

Kind of bummed I didn't get to hit the gym yesterday. Bunch of personal stuff happened and didn't have time to make it to feel comfortable doing what is on the programming for this next wave. And today is Vday so I can make it today either. Wednesday (squats) Thursday(bench) Saturday(deads) it is.

This week I'll be hitting straight heavy triples @10RPE. Next week is heavy singles @10RPE then a deload after that. Will be the first time I've used straight weight for bench and deadlifts for the last 6 weeks. Really excited to see where I'm at. My body hasn't felt this good in a hot minute. No nagging injuries or tendinitis. Hips and knees feel great. Excited to say the least.

whatd up been away from the forum for a while good to see you are still training hard and heavy. Sometimes missing a day or two for whatever reason benefits us. When that happens to me I end up training like a beast trying to make up for lost time.. keep it up and do t sweat it..

thanks my man, good to see you around.
i will always train hard and heavy until my body or a doctor says no more.
i think of this quote in my instance

this is from a book called The Iron by Henry Rollins. good book and an even better man. if you ever get a chance to see him do spoken word or play in any of his bands do it. he has always helped me through his music and spoken word since i was a young teenager.

Rest of the week went ehh...

Bench
360
1 set 3 reps 10RPE

Deadlifts
585
1 set 3 reps 10RPE

Bench felt way off. Could find a good groove and it all felt heavy. Elbow was nagging me also so I felt like I couldn't be as explosive as I had been leading up to this.

After talking to my coach for a while this afternoon we are both kind of scratching our heads. We both expecting squat and deadlift numbers to be 10-20 pounds heavier(especially deads we expected 600 at the least) and another 10 pounds on bench.

We're chalking it up to some fatigue and being thrusted from regular higher volume work straight into rep max. Not being true maxes. Got singles at 10RPE next week then deload. Excited for this next training block coming up.

Well at least deadlifts went well

645
1 set 1 rep 10RPE

So yesterday was a glorious day for all of MAYBE 2 hours. Was out to eat for a family bday and got a call from my girlfriends brother that my girlfriend had just had a heart attack. She was rushed to the closest ER then transferred downtown to the hospitals main campus. She had some period of time without oxygen/blood to her brain. She is currently sedated and undergoing what's called a cooling treatment for the next 48 hours. They will keep her sedated and they bring her body temp down 3-5 degrees to allow the body and brain to rest and recover. When the sedatives wore off when they transferred her and she was trying to get the breathing tubing out of her throat but was unresponsive to commands to open her eyes or anything else.

I could really use some good vibes/prayers coming for her, her family and myself. Really fucked up about it right now. I had a girlfriend die in a car accident 7 years ago. I can't fucking lose another one.

The training got overlooked with everything going on, but good deadlift the other day. Seven plates not far off. One good cycle and you'll be there.

Hope you're hanging in there buddy.

Yes all is well @Eman
We are still unsure of the cause. They did a bunch of testing today and water say. Results should be in tomorrow. They are thinking its Lung Q T. She will have to get a difibulator put in tomorrow. So she will be here the rest of the week. We were suppose to leave for a west coast vacation tomorrow for a week but that's put on hold. I'm jut glad she is okay, awake, able to talk and has her memory. One of the most fucked/scary weekends of my life. Thank you everyone for the thoughts/prayers. She is going to make a full recovery

This week is supposed to be a "deload" week. Basically drop everything down by 1 RPE point... Coach said take the week off considering the circumstance. I can't do that, training helps me stay sane, mediate and give me a few hours to myself. I got a couple punch hole passes to the local University gym down the street from the hospital.

None of this wasn't what was scheduled. I didn't want to do deadlifts today as this weekend eating was so speratic. So here was what I did today

Bench
300
3 sets 3 reps
1 set 10 reps 9RPE

Pendlay rows
245
4 sets 8 reps

High incline Bench (1-2 notches down from military press)
205
5 sets 5 reps

Grenade Grip pull downs
4 set 12 reps (forearm pump CITY)

Meadows Kickbacks
4 sets 10 reps

So basically an upper body day. Bench went a lot better than expected give the shitty bench and bars they had. Gym was really fucking weird. Made due with what I could and energy levels. Wanted to do some front squats but just wasn't up to it.

Edit: forgot I also did CGBP
225 AMRAP

@ruckin it was scary seeing her in that hospital bed basically lifeless and not responding to us.

@franchise24 thank you a lot brother, you don't know how that that means.

Training continue as scheduled and programmed today

Deadlifts
585
1 set 3 reps 8RPE
525
3 sets 3 reps

Speed Bench
285
8 sets 2 reps 6RPE

DB RDL
100 DB's
5 sets 10 reps

Deadlifts felt light as shit today. That's the best they have felt. A guy from my gym gave me a really good que I used last week and this week and has proven to be beneficial. Was weird, had a crowd watching me do my sets.

Wasn't sure where to go with bench since I had benched yesterday. Felt really light and free the first 3 sets I did 3-5 count pause. Last set was a 10 second pause LOL.

Was supposed to do sometime of extension, preferably Reverse Hypers but they didn't have one and the hyperextension was taken so I do really explosive RDL with their heaviest DBs

Wave 4 Week 1 Day 1

Deadlifts
600
1 set 3 reps9.5RPE (PR)

530
3 sets 3 reps 8-8.5RPE

Standing Overhead DB Press
75
3 sets 7 Reps 7RPE
65
2 sets 7 reps 7RPE

Snatch Grip Barbell Rows
195
4 sets 10 reps 7RPE

Solid session.
Was at the local University Gym again since the girlfriend had to go back into surgery to fix the difibulator since one of the leads was poking into her lung, tearing it. So deads were on a stiff bar. Was a quick session. Took 32 minutes from first deadlift/warm ups till top set.

Again, left side is weaker on standing overhead. Left side was at prescribed RPE of 7. Right side was at maybe 5-6.

Choose snatch grip rows to work the upper back more than the Lats.
