How Megan Rapinoe and the U.S. Beat France at the World Cup

The United States women’s soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the World Cup on Friday, eliminating host France, 2-1, in Paris in a match that preserved — for at least a few more days — the Americans’ mantle as the premier team in women’s soccer.


Megan Rapinoe scored both goals for the United States, which will play England in the tournament’s first semifinal on Tuesday in Lyon. The United States victory prevented an all-European set of semifinals: Italy will face the Netherlands and Germany will play Sweden in the final two quarterfinals on Saturday.
 
Sweden will face the Netherlands on Wednesday 3 July in Lyon, In the process, they qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

I may be alone in this, but this group is US athletes is the least likeable that I can remember in any sport; either gender. I’m a huge soccer fan. I’ve watched women play since high-school. The way this USWNT has conducted themselves on the pitch and in the media just rubs me the wrong way.

It depends on the financial breakdown.

I don't follow soccer religiously but my guess is men are a bigger draw. WNBA vs NBA there's no comparison and their payouts reflect that.

But damn are girls are legit

Exactly. It’s impossible to pay them the same. They don’t attract the same ticket sales at the same prices or the same level of endorsements and sponsorships. Finances are fact based.

Men’s soccer in the US is an absolute joke, both the national team and MLS, a laughing stock. Do you actually have some figure that show those clowns draw more $
